Hello everyone, like any new reef hobbyist, I’m new to battling ick, I know ick is an infection that mostly appears on stressed tangs and spreads to other fish. I currently have a blue hippo that I think is showing signs of ick, it’s still eating and acting normal, just breathing a little faster than usual I think, but I wonder what is the best way of tackling this issue. In the main tank I have invertebrates. I do have a bare 35gal tank with an extra heater, overtop filter, a Fluval light and some ick treatment. I know copper is a form of treatment but I have no clue how to deal with it. The blue hippo started seeing its reflection on the tank and started flaring up and trying to attack it, thats what I think stressed it. Will herbal medicine and algae with garlic help the hippo fight it off without having to quarantine it? I’m honestly scared to quarantine it, I don’t know if ammonia spikes or any other factors in the qt can kill it fast

Do the spots come and go in different areas of the body? If not, it might just be mucus cones.

It’s been a couple of days, they don’t really come and go from different spots, they kind of appear and it looks like they stay there and possibly slowly fade away

In my experience dealing with marine ich, only two things work. Hyposinity and copper. The rest is pretty much useless.

These fish are prone to that. Is he eating well? Feed heavy, he may get over it but then it may come back.

I agree with the advice given ahead of time. Also, its great that you were proactive, and went out to buy stuff to help, but in my experience, the Imagitarium Parasite Remedy doesn't do much.
