That's around ~1100G, in a tank that size you could likely keep around 20-30 adults. We have a customer with 16 in a 1400G tank but also has a ton of our angelfish and other species in there.
That's gotta be impressive :)

Not sure if FB links work here but: https://fb.watch/sEc-yKpgXy/

The rabbits grew the fastest so that school is always front and center
Link worked. Going FOWLER off that not a hard sell. I'm struggling to find enough watts to drive a large reef and may have no choice but going this route as I have the space but may not have the juice to run the required lights and flow otherwise needed.

I believe the only fish that wasn't captive bred in that system is the Naso from a previous build. For deeper tanks I've seen good results with some of those Orphek lights, we use a good amount of the GNC lights after switching from Radions both here in Florida and in Palau.

Sorry for derailing the post a bit OP

I just got 8 yellow tangs with their June promo 10% off and free shipping!!! I’m so excited. They are super tiny, but healthy and swimming in a group. My biota yellow pipefish and biota regal angelfish joined them too. Ridiculously cute. I basically sectioned off the left third with an egg crate and put the yellow tangs there instead of 8 separate acclimation box. So I can make sure they are eating and stuff. Hopefully after a week, I can remove the egg crate. Jake from Biota has been so helpful. On a side note, they just announced captive bred convict tang. So exciting. Thank you Biota!

*** once they are bigger and show aggression, I’ll rehome them or move to my other tanks. This hobby is addicting and I have three more tanks in the garage.

Thank you for purchasing from us! I'm glad to see they made the trip safely. They are going to love that tank.

Is it unethical to only keep them for 6-12 months when they are babies and super tiny and then rehome them when they get too big, so I continuously have large yellow tang gang? Seeing them in a group is just another level of fun, but I know this won’t last forever in my tank. I guess I can upgrade my tank too but that’s a lot bigger project and a separate question.

They likely went through several enclosures at breeder before landing at your place (Biota can better discuss this) and similar with wild caught. Latter I'm very familiar with. What's another change likely doing to their state of mind then?

I'd enjoy them and if they seemed cramped then go worry about a new home then. Fact is that they might just be fine full grown being this last stop where they did most of their growing.

Seen first hand how large groups behaved so long as enclosure chosen large enough for a single fish as it seems to me they need room to move but that room doesn't expand based on a multiple of how many added. As I mentioned before. Not like they will bump into each other and on their natural reefs tangs do roam in tight schools. If anything. Really believe tangs should be added in groups vs single items. Looks more natural and perhaps suppresses aggression. Not just towards their own but also others. Safety in numbers how prey evolved. One amongst thousands likely less stressed.

We buy from Biota and they have done a great job producing them, We keep them in our tank about 20-25 of them in a 100 gal tank. But we are retailers and they dont stay their long. I am working on my personal 400gal tank. Will have 20-25 yellow in it. will update once its up and running by next 2-3 weeks,

I have always wanted one. Then the ban came on. I recently bought one from Biota. Along with several other fish. Mine was about 3 inches. It is still in a 40 gallon. I am waiting on the others I bought to grow enough to move them out of the nursery tanks. I am not sure what order I should add them to my display tank yet. But I was thinking the tang will be last. The babies are so darn cute. The mandarin pair was super tiny. As is the purple head angel. All eating like pigs.

Thanks Biota

Shelley
