Happy Friday, everyone! Our aquariums and their inhabitants are like us...They have their highs and their lows. Mine does at least! So, my question is simple...

How is your tank doing today? What's going right, and what's going wrong?

Mine is doing good, but it could be better! My fish seem happy, and my corals and Anemone are growing beautifully, but we've got some stubborn algae, and the tank just looks a little messy right now. But hey, I'll take an unsightly but healthy tank over the almost-crashed one I had a few months ago!

The RTA in my tank seems to be receding a little. Everything is looking good though. I started dosing ammonium bicarbonate last Saturday to get my nitrates up. It could just be a placebo type affect but II think the few corals I have are a bit deeper in color too. :)

Some are doing great, and some need a little extra effort. Always a juggling act with multiple separate systems. All part of reefing. :)

My tank is doing better than it has for a while. Probably partly due to not throwing in tons of new corals for a couple months. Let’s what happens when 21 newbies get added next Wednesday …

Corals are all growing but the polyp extension is slightly less than I'd like (SPS only Waterbox Infinia Frag 125.4). Some colors, but not all, seem to have faded over the past few weeks but nothing else has changed with the corals. My Alk has climbed by 1.5dKH over the last two weeks and I cannot figure out why seeing as my testing parameters are all constant other than that. I'm starting a deep dive today, I suspect it may be faulty testing.

All in all I'm happy with the tank and the growth, just small things to tinker with to make it look even better.

Cleaned up the bryopsis and siphoned out 10-15 planaria off the glass yesterday. Everything looks alright but I’m wondering how quickly both these pests are gonna show face again. Happy Friday R2R

I'm going to need to see a front view of that tank...That toadstool is incredible! I love toadstools, maybe a little too much.

I'm dealing with a bit of cyano, but that is my only significant issue at the moment.

My eel has been a bull in a china shop lately and keeps knocking some things over that I have in temporary locations. I'm probably going to have to glue them down somewhere this weekend.

Corals seem happy, fish are fat and happy but I've got two minor problems that I haven't really done anything about. I have 0 detectable nitrates but significant algae on the rocks and algae/dinos/cyano on the sand bed and for several months now my Alk has been below 5.0 significantly slowing my coral growth. All of my corals look very happy with really good polyp extension and decent coloration but they haven't really grown much and could be brighter since the alk's been low. This alk consumption is driving me to the poor house - 150 mls/day of ESV 2 part.

I'm ever so slowly raising alk and considering ammonia dosing to deal with my nitrate issue. I think both of these fixes will drive my colors and growth to a level I'm happy with.

Should be ok in a few months. No rush. just keep telling myself that. No rush.... easy tiger... settle down everything looks good.

Fighting a losing battle with neomeris annulata as well as my corals staying receded for the last 4 days now after raising my salinity up from 1.019 (I don't know how it got so low) to 1.023 over 3 weeks a little every couple of days.

How do you like the ammonia dosing. I'm considering the bi-carbonate route as well for the nitrate, pH and alk neutral properties. I just have to source some cheap powder in Canada.

Mines not great, but it could be worse. I've suffered some coral loss lately and I'm trying to figure out why. My Phosphate is a little high, and PH is low. The CO2 scrubber burns through media in days, so I'm working on running a line off that to outside to hopefully combat it. GFO reactor shows up today and GFO will be here tomorrow so that will hopefully help with bringing down the phosphates and get everything back in line and stable. Fish are all doing fantastic though.

My tank is good. I added some peppermint shrimps for my aiptasia. Soon like say, “Where’s my anemone?”
