That Goni is beautiful! They might be my favorite LPS.
I really like them to, they seem to be able to handle more flow than euphyllia but still show water motion, which is great for my 90.

Tested the 90. Nutrients are super low, I harvested a bunch of chaeto last night, hopefully that will help a little. I’ll use reef roids tonight as well to get some phosphate.

Hello,

Are you using Red Sea test kits? Be careful with the reef roids they always sky rocket my nitrates and phosphates and I spot feed. But hopefully your corals won’t be like mine and freak out when parameters change ever so slightly. I have been trying to let my tank swing a tad so they are use to it, and it’s always ocean corals that I lose when it does happen:

Salifert kits, Red Sea alk, hanna phosphate. I did reef roids 2 nights ago and I still have basically no nutrients, I think I need to up the frequency or feeding amount of that. The best option would be adding a fish but all the shops around me have disease right now :(

Hello,

Errrrr yeah I’d avoid them like a airplane at 36,000 feet with no wings. It’s fascinating how much each tank can actually vary. Some tanks corals love high nitrates and phosphates because they are use to it. Others will die within hours which makes it fascinating, it’s like a game of chess.

What I usually suggest to people is to slowly cut back on fuge lighting hours. Most people light it for 12+ hours, I tell people to ween it down to about 3-4 hours and that helps create a balance.

A friend in my local club with a huge tank ran an arid reactor. I'm talking 450g peninsula with a 200g sump, and an additional 90g frag tank plumbed in.. An ARID reactor with a few strands of chaeto would quickly strip his tank clean, and grow monstrous.

All it really needs is a few hours to thrive, and NOT suck the tank dry.

Chaeto's biggest problem is it's unbelievably effective.

That’s a great point. Mine is running 14 hours a day reverse photoperiod. Grows like crazy. I’ll shorten the run time, good idea.

Lower light intensity also helps. If you're blowing it up with 1000w of light, cutting it down will also make it less efficient, and really help things balance out.
Another great point! I never thought of that somehow lol.

Equipment:
What I had
-360we
-360 spectral controller

What I knew I needed

Made a huge BRS order

Big ticket items were:
Reef Octopus VarioS-4 DC controllable return-$260
Kessil 360we- $350
Reef Octopus eSsence S-130 Skimmer-$300
Tunze ATO 3155-$200
Cobalt Neotherm 300watt heater-$140
Maxspect gyre xf230 (2) with advanced controller- $320

Special grade reef sand 40lb dry-$40
Special grade reef sand 30lb live-$63
Jager 150watt heater for backup-$20

Impulse buys
BubbleMagnus BM-T11 with 3 1-liter res-$370

Took some 40b pics. Finally got my alk and cal consumption dialed in on that tank. My cheap little purple mushroom is getting huge!!! And my kryptonite mushroom is doing something weird, I think it’s laying babies, that or dying, one of the two.

i think so, but i like it front and center! man up stupid frogspawn!

also my blenny keeps showering it in sand so that probably doesn't help either. i found my fungia plate completely covered earlier today, like they intentionally tried to cover it in sand lol

Looking good!

I've always had a fondness for purple mushrooms as they are one of the first ones I owned many moons ago.
