That must be why my gas one stutters I never could figure out what was gummed
I have to run more choke to make it smooth now
so on the gas pumps they’ll say ethanol free/ if not listed then its got ethanol?
Blue handle, do not mess with the green handle.

Run some Seafoam in the gas, that should clean out the carburetor.

My generators are gas powered.
I only run clear gas ( ethanol free). It can be hard to find. I have 2 sources local to me.
I swap out my gas in the generator twice a year and run it on the house for about a half hour every spring and fall, even if it was used during the past season. Just routine maintenance.
Same here- Ethanol free along with product called SeaFoam and carbs are clear and fires right up. Mine is 7500wt and I fire it up every 2 months and its been 3 years since ive needed to use it.

10000 watt generator costs as much as a small car

do I select the highest octane rating to be ethanol free?
just one level of octane on the ethanol free. The ethanol is what cause engine knock, and the reason some use high octane. Ethanol just stretches gasoline, no real benefits and a lot of problems over time. In the long run, one is better off using ethanol free for repairs and maintenance.

Power outage really stinks and can be stressful. My system is relatively small 50 gallon display tank with a large 75 gallon sump in the basement. When power goes out, I’ve had luck running just a portable 200 watt heater and a air pump to keep tank oxygenated and warm . Best of luck

The Amazon igen 2200 / 550$ off Amazon has been a gem. Can run a decent sized tank plus full size fridge as long as you put fuel through it, did a long careful break in with multi oil changes it’s really a good one. Use the right gas apparently

its pure sine wave no electrical harm

We got pummeled. I was in the eastern eye wall for like 9 hours as it turned and slowed down!! But I didn't get storm surge. Just a few m miles away, everybodys houses took water. The beaches were leveled. Looked like a tsunami hit Ukraine. It was intense, I was lucky

Hahaha... I just ran mine 12 days straight, non stop) 6 months ago.

Yup. Cape coral. Probably almost 5 miles west of sanibel
Cape here too. We were out for 5 days and the power came back on. We were ecstatic! Then the power went off after about 3 hours and we were no longer ecstatic. :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing: Stayed off for another 10 days.

I’m going to laugh if your name is Joe C.

While gas generators are great for long outages. If your outage is measured in hours not days, I use a Ecoflow DeltaMax (Lithium Power center) that runs my main pump and My controller for about 15 hours. It is always plugged in (and can hook to solar) and switches over to the lithium battery automatically.

Something else to consider, although the cash outlay is higher.

I have a battery backup system that will run the tank about 2 days. So I wait for the storm to pass then hook up generator. Regular outages, I just let the batteries do the work

I’m have a ridged from Home Depot. Runs great 10 years old.

Same. I have one that I used for 5 days, non-stop when Tx froze over a couple of years ago. Initially I just ran my tanks and a couple of small space heaters off it but over the duration if it's usage I kept adding devices. By the time all was said and done I basically had my entire house running, besides the hvac. Great generators!!
