First off... while it's awesome to be around our tanks more, obviously the reason why sucks.
My story:
I work at a college in Colorado, where I serve as the Manager of Sports and Youth Programs. Essentially I organize intramural sports (think flag football, soccer, softball, volleyball etc.) for the students, as well as camps for kids. As you can imagine, my line of work has been majorly effected by COVID-19, as every college in the US shut down Mid-March to early April. Initially we were supposed to return to work May 15th, but that changed until further notice. Then, last week, I was notified that I would be furloughed for 90 days. It sucks...but...it's given me some much needed time to rehab my 40B.
If you check out my post history, you might see that I have let my tank become infested with algae, through lack of husbandry. My LPS weren't growing, and some of my SPS started to bleach. Since being on work from home, I have really kicked maintenance into high gear, manually removed a ton of algae, and have done 5 gallon water changes every day for the past 8 days. My goal was to change 100% of the water, while slowly replenishing calcium, alkalinity and trace elements. I can tell you that my corals have really appreciated this, as my frogspawn colony of over 20 polyps have begun splitting (about 7 of them are splitting right now!) and my SPS have regained color that I haven't seen in years.
So, what are you doing now that you have more time, if you have more time?
