It might be okay if it fit okay. Stressful, probably, but he might be okay.

I hear dechlorinator (prime) it can be pretty toxic when combined with copper treatment, but not sure about ammonia reducers. Not do I have a direct to cite, for the dechlorinator problem,so I'd definitely do careful research.

With an ammonia badge, only one or two fish in the tank, heavy water change schedule, you'd probably be okay. Most treatments will wreak havoc in the bacterial population, so I would some you get limited value from a bacterial reduction plan (biospira, wet-dry, hob, etc). The biological methods for ammonia reduction shouldn't cause any issues, but with a medicated QT, they probably don't do much. They should be fine in hyposalinity if you want to try that.

Ok thx. Just for the record, they’re not in copper anymore. They’re on general trio and prazi.

Update: I’m cautiously optimistic.

After a 50% waterchange, ammonia is under control. Ammonia badge is now in. Fish are now on prazi and general trio. No copper. Parameters stabilized.

Gramma: blown away by how much he’s improved. White on mouth is 80% cleared. He’s now otherwise symptom free.

Clown: good as always. This guy’s bullet proof

Yellow Wrasse: showing no ill effects of the suction tube incident.

Engineer goby: swim bladder symptoms still gone. Eating again. Feeling hopeful.

This was my 1st treatment qt. I’ve learned a LOT. Unfortunately, it cost the lives of 4 poor innocent fish.

Thank you all for your advise and for not being judgmental.

The plan: in a few days, general trio will be done and they’ll get 2nd dose of prazi. 1 week later, sterile qt that’s been seeded w biospera and is loaded w established live rock. 30 day minimum observation. Probably 60.

I’ll keep you posted. Wish me luck

I too had disastrous results with qt after my main dt was wiped out due to velvet. Long story short it wasn’t until I switched to copper power and followed @4FordFamily protocol that I had success.
I made all sorts of mistakes that I won’t go into great detail about, but let’s just say a cozy cycled tank is not it.
Another idea for you is sponge filters. You can soak new ones in your sump for a while and let bacteria populations grow but copper will wipe them out but gets you a good start.
Good luck and keep plugging along.
Btw I only have 5 fish in my 75

Two notes to add:
1) In theory, copper kills the nitrifying bacteria around 0.3ppm; the therapeutic concentration is usually 0.2ppm, but pathogenic bacteria usually aren't killed by copper until way higher and into the danger-to-fish zone. The point is: in theory, if you're very careful and keep the copper at 0.2ppm, your nitrifying bacteria should survive. They probably won't be as productive, but they should be able to help with NH3->NO2->NO3

2) Other medications can give a yellow tinge to the water, so when measuring copper concentration, you should measure before adding other medications.

Sorry for your problems, I don't lose many fish past the first 24 hours (lose some from shipping stress). I use fully cycled FOWLR QT for observation/conditioning where I can feed to my hearts desire and not spike ammonia. It has some macro algae in it as well... many pods, it's like it's own little display tank almost. I treat all fish with prazi in this tank for 24 hours one week apart. I let them settle in and get eating good first. I have also treated with general cure soaked food. I will observe for 2-3 months. Longer side for fish prone to disease.

I QT 1-2 fish at a time.

I never use copper unless necessary. I have a 2nd set up ready to go for a 'hospital' tank to use copper in. That is the PVC and plastic plant one. You can keep a seeded sponge in your DT or such if you want for the hospital tank for a quick set up.

The fish em were removed from copper a few days ago and placed into sterile qt.

I’ve got a 55g that’s been running 2 years. I’m using it to qt from now on. Considering copper alternatives. Just don’t trust the colour chart tests and can’t get the Hannah checker
