It's pretty incredible how these long term aquacultured pieces hold up even with the condition of my tank right now. It really shows how much more adapted these pieces are to captivity. I'll take a proven long term aquacultured winner SPS than some chop shop fresh cut from the reef $600 piece any day.

Amen man! that thing looks great!

I love the new rockscape, it really gives the tank a rounded character and some depth to boot. :)

It's been a while but here's what's up... Tank is in our living room... Living room has hardwood floors.. Hardwood floors need to be sanded and refinished to complete our kitchen/living room remodel.. Tank needs to be moved into the garage while the work is done.. I've recently majorly trimmed up my sps so everything is really small again to make this easier.

I luckily came across a 40g breeder as a temporary tank for 30$ at the LFS so that's neat.. Anyway...

1,2,3 And here we go..

All went well and now the tank is in the garage for the time being..

This moving of the tank is actually a good thing because the stand need some fixing up and we've decided to plumb the tank out to the garage so i can have a "tank closet" mini sump room to reduce tank noise in the living room and keep water changes and water in general off the new floor.

I'll post some plans of my new mini sump room soon

That's looks great, I really love the Tipi Hut!

What are your plans filtration-wise? (Carbon dosing, refugium, etc)

I'm planning on keeping the same filtration I have which includes the skimmer, a carbon reactor, and my BRS dosing pumps dosing 2part. The only big changes im going to make are to replace the 4 gallons refugium I'm running now with a 15g fuge that will include mangroves and macro algae with some sort of sand sifting fish. I plan on adding a waterchange tank that will have a shut off valve to bypass water around it the tank while I drain it through a discharge line. This waterchange tank will be gravity fed from the refugium so I'm assuming it will collect a lot of detritus at the bottom where I am putting the discharge line so it will all be sucked out. This will make my water changes sooooo simple. RODI with a float valve will refill the tank, I add salt, let it mix, then slowly open the valve to let the water recirculate back into the system.

As of now I just don't know what sort of external return pump I should buy, I have about 5 feet of head and a run of around 20 feet I think. Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I have a frag tank I had custom built that I never used, I am going to drill it and use it for the fuge. What were you thinking on using?

I'm thinking of using a deep blue 7.5g cube. Or maybe a Mr. Aqua 11.4g. Think it's 12x12x12. It's definitely in the works. Here's a pic of the stand. 48x24x42 with a 40b as main sump. But kinda of wanted a display refugium as well with mangroves and I really want to throw a few oysters in to kinda of make a lagoon.

Here is the stand naked with a 30g breeder which is a few inches shorter.
