Hey Broadfield, very informative and detailed post! I love your attention to detail. Do you have a flow meter and get a reading before and after this upgrade? I have started this exact same modification on my XXL 750 because I am only getting about 580 GPH out of my Vectra L2 and have come to the conclusion this has to be the reason. I have already converted all of the rest of the plumbing to 1".
I do have a flow meter and if I remember correctly, it netted me an additional 80 - 100 GPH

FWIW, I think the 750 already has a larger elbow though. So I'm not sure if you will see similar gains. I could be wrong on the size of the 750 vs my 450 though.

Hey Broadfield, I have been following this build for quite some time during the highs and the lows. I have taken some of your ideas and incorporated them into my tank as well. I am currently working on getting my dry side of my sumo all tidied up. With that being said do you have an update at all on what your setup looks like now. FTS would fee awesome as well!

Wanted to post an update on the return line conversion to 1" on my XXL 750. Original flow numbers with a Vectra L2 were 552 and after converting to 1" new flow numbers at the same setting is 745. Will post pictures of the conversion and how to later.

I haven't taken any pictures in ages... I really need to do that. I have been helping at my local coral shop... building their huge grow-out etc. So that and family has really taken up a lot of time. Here is a full tank shot from a while ago... I have at least a couple of dozen new frags since this image. Then some sump shots from when I did it a couple of years ago.

Cool, I'll check out the pictures in your build thread!

Edit: Just noticed you don't have a build thread lol. Just post them up in the Red Sea Reefer thread I started... link is in my signature.
