Awesome! Beautiful fishEveryone meet Woodstock
@Robin Haselden shared a link the other day which talked about how live phytos can control nutrients in a reef tank. I’ve been dosing phyto feast live for a while now, and have very low nutrient levels, in spite of heavily feeding. Didn’t put 2 and 2 together until reading his link, maybe worth checking out? I have personally decided to steer clear of refugiums/algae reactors because of how much other stuff they absorb that I would rather remain in the water column for my corals.I need to see where they stay at naturally. I was dosing nutrients to keep them above zero and then pulled the chaeto when that was not working. After that nutrients shot up. Did 2 25 percent water changes in a week and got them to a manageable level. Nitrates stayed under control but phosphates are staying high. I think maybe the rocks soaked up the no4 when it was high and are releaseing it now.
Oh wow, you’ve got a keeper!! Couldn’t have gone to a better home ;HappyAnd guess who just ate her first frozen meal???
That is awesome news! And guess who just ate her first frozen meal???
That Mandarin has much better odds now that she found you and AndrewLook, I know it's 50/50, but I'm hopeful.
There was no doubt 100% she ate frozen. I did let the lfs know the combo I used for her sister to eat. I think she was hungry enough and saw the pipefish eating it...That Mandarin has much better odds now that she found you and Andrew
That 20 is only there because she was hungry before you good himEating frozen is a great supplement. I would say better odds 80/20 survival under your care
Honestly, being hungry might have worked out! It was probably more likely to take frozen that way. I’m saying 99.9999%, with the .0001 being an asteroid strikeThat 20 is only there because she was hungry before you good him
I’ve been meaning to ask about your pipefish. What type of pipefish are they and what size tank are they in? What do you feed them, and what did your mandarin eat?@sebaseau sorry, I had my hands full for a bit and I was starving too. I wanted to respond. I have been reading and watching for a few years. I have always said no. Pretty much like the pipefish. I was hopeful her previous tanks being VERY small would lend to her comfort in mine. I was also betting she would be likely to eat any of my foods if she ever would take frozen or pellets. I have always had small, delicate fish. With the upcoming Miracle Tank, I was confident she would be able to spend her entire life in there. Her size and sunken tummy pushed me to do it. The new tank will have ample pods for her.
