Hello Gurus,

Hopefully this is the correct thread and looking for some help. I currently have a 90gal. tank and transferring the contents to a new 45gal. tank (Chicago to MI- 2.5 hrs). I'll first cycle the water in the 45 and then transfer the contents from the 90 (coral/fish which will fit). These are some questions.... I'll first apologize for all the details and will try to keep this easy.

First Step (I'm humble with advice)

- To acclimate the new water and initial setup for the 45, what is a good battery-operated heater?
- What is a descent battery operated powerhead and/or circulation pump, powerhead, bubbler?
- I'll also place a few empty live rocks and new live sand in the tank?
- Condition the water? Nitrifying bacteria?
- Anything else missing?
- How long does it take to be ready?

Second Step

- This may sound dumb. When in transit, would I need to purchase a second set of heaters powerheads, circulation pump, thermometer etc? Or, can I temporarily take this this equipment from the new 45?
- With taking out the fish/coral......
- What is the safest procedure to snip the frags before placing in new tank?
- I've heard of different ways to take out the invertebrate. Snip, keep on rock. What is best?
- I'll do my best to keep everything on the rock but it will not all fit in the smaller 45.
- I've read people take a chisel to split the rock. Is this safe or is there a better way?

Reading forums in the past have provided much knowledge. During this transfer, just want to do this right without any catastrophes. Again, thank you.

If your moving all contents to the new tank there is no need to cycle the 45 gallon.

Just keep everything wet and warm moving.
