We lost power around 9:30pm. I covered the tank with blanks and I'm using a battery powered air pump for circulation. I have a 12v converter I'm using once every hour for an hour to run a heater. Keeping the fireplace burning is definitely helping with the temp. I'm really hoping they get the power back on before morning and hoping I can keep all livestock alive. I will definitely be buying a generator very soon.

Jeez man, how did everything turn out? It was a very rough night up here at my house, power never dropped out thankfully. All told I would up with roughly 3 inches of solid ice. Thankfully I didn't have any real damage to our property. A tree crashed through my neighbors barn, and many people I know lost power. Looks like overnight we picked up another three inches of snow. Now to wait for the thaw lol..

Power is back on. I was able to keep the display at 72, running one heater every other hour using the converter plugged into the car and letting the car run for an hour. Starting to slowly heat the sump water back up to temp and than going to bring the tank back online. The sump water temp dropped to 58.

I'm lucky, the power only flickered twice, hope everyone is ok. cale0721 do you have a fireplace, if so, you can boil water and then float hot water in a container.

Nope. We are still without power and company is saying could be out until tomorrow night. So panic mode .. Moving all corals and fish into buckets. We got a hotel and buckets are going with us so that heaters and air stones can be placed in them.

Wow, good luck man. I don't know if there is anything I can do to help but I do have some spare air pumps and a spare 40 breeder.

When doing maintenance I've forgotten to plug in my heater, the tank went down to 70 without any visible negative effects; I also don't heat water change water and it usually drops my display temp from 79 to 72, I haven't heated water change water in two years.

So far so good. Got one bucket of corals and one bucket for fish With a heater in each then turning on the air stone every hour for a few minutes. Unfortunately i had the leave 4 fish behind (2 chromis and 2 firefish) due to not being able to net them with all the love rock. Hoping they make it tho.
