We lost power during the night and I didn't find out till 6 hours later. Battery backup was only connected to wave pumps and didn't get the rest connected back up with a generator until 9 hours after the power outage.

My ammonia the night before was 0.13, 48 hours later it has jumped to 1.44.

Just wondering if there are any tips on what to do next?

The 5 fish and 6 coral all seem to be coping OK but I'm not sure what to add to speed up the recovery. Tank was in such a good place and I thought that it was edging towards being a "mature tank"

Is everything going to die?

I did a 10% water change yesterday and I'm contemplating red sea N03-PO4-X, another water change, and a few doses of live copepods.

These were the last things I added before the outage and seemed to help the slight ammonia increase after one of my snails died.

I have a 1067L/282G Cade 2100 tank.

If everything looks fine, I would get the tank running then re evaluate before doing anything rash

More water changes is the best route.

Might want to research Prime. Tests done on this forum don't show promising results.

An option to get that ammonia resolved quickly beyond dilution is adding a bacterial product such as Fritz Turbo and making sure expiration date within six months. Has been tested on this forum and found viable to quickly cycle new tanks which after a power outage and ammonia spike is currently happening. Much more pragmatic than water changes, too. Not everyone has enough available water or ability to make it quick enough. Why I keep a bottle in my fridge and it can be dosed 5x to get ammonia down quickly.

Thanks all, I will see what I can get hold of to have available if it continues to get worse. I can't seem to find the Fitzroy turbo, but aquavitro have seed which I may be able to get hold of on a Sunday.
Would it be best to turn off UV filter in the mean time? Everything is running normally now since the generator and then the power was reconnected.

LFS tend to carry Turbo.

Below is a extensive testing on bottled bacteria. Made me a believer in Turbo. Prior to that I had success with One and Only as well as BioSpira but both took minimum four days to solve ammonia.

This one covers Prime and other marketed as quick neutralizing

It looks perfectly normal to me(?) I would let your bio filter do it's job and catch up. As @GARRIGA said, bottle bacteria wouldn't be a bad idea to have on hand, but I would wait until a fish showed issue. The corals will not mind a little ammonia and the bio filter will strengthen to assimilate additional ammonia.. give it a couple days, I think no intervention will be required

Thank you! I really appreciate the advice and guidance. I will see how we go! And work on getting my second battery back up working in the meantime, as well as getting some bottled bacteria.
