Looking to add a naso tang to my 180g from whichever LFS has one in stock. I had good luck with one in past but this was when they were like $35. Unfortunately it didn't make it on a long distance move. The last one I tried went on a hunger strike and just withered away and died. I'd like to try one again but wanted to see if there are any tips to consider to increase the chance of success. Other tangs in the tank is a hippo, powder brown and small scopas. My powder brown is actually very chill and not the bully they're known to be so I'm not too worry about it.

Mine naso is my oldest fish. Not sure if it's still an issue but a while back there were problems with the supply of them coming in and dying shortly after folks added them. Not positive but I think it had something to do with how they were being collected. Not sure if it's still a problem or not. Mine has been very hardy. She was little bitty gal 2-3" when I got her and now maybe 7-8" She was even one of the few fish I manged to save after a velvet outbreak a couple of years ago.

Yes, I did hear of that too. Hopefully things have gotten better with how they're captured. Guess I just have to spend a little longer observing it at the store and absolutely making sure it's eating when fed.

Definatly want to observe. My go to LFS will hold a fish for a week or so if I ask. They are also honest about how long the fish has been there. One place actually writes the date the fish arrived on the tank which is very useful.
