I read through the pages and understand it needs to be cell cast.
When I called and got pricing this is what I was told . Anyone have any experience with any of these ?
1/2" acrylic 4' x 8'
Sheets
Chemcast 224$
Plaskoline 224$
Vision. 217

If you can find PolyCast by PolyOne in Cell cast this would be the best product to use. If not I think you might have try Evonik which is produced in Germany and imported and is a good product (old name is Acrylite GP I think). So many of the old names have been bought out and renamed. Plexiglass G is still available by Arkema. Only PolyCast is still made in the United States.

Prices seem in line with cell cast acrylic but I would avoid Plaskoline (extruded and continous cast not cell cast so not recommended for aquarium construction). According to the Vision website the acrylic is extruded and not suited for aquarium construction...made in India.

Chemcast GP is cell cast sheet sold by TPI one of the sponsors of this site you might check with them. They also produce a continous cast and extruded which are not acceptable for aquarium construction.

In general, Plexiglas-g (made by Arkema) is a solid bet and anyplace that doesn't carry that I would question.

The next step down from that is a generic Arkema version called PMACS. Basically Plex-G (cell cast) without the print on the mask.

Acrylite: anything under 1" is made in China now. Over 1" is made in Germany, I think. Ask @mixer911 (Synergy Reef) why they don't use Acrylite anymore...

That's PMACS. It's the generic version. I guarantee it. If he's telling you that's Plexiglas-G you better hit him back for a discount because that should cost in the range of 20% less than the stuff with the printed mask.

I have been trying for 6 months to get PolyCast acrylic but none of the distributors in my area will carry it but they will let me special order and drop ship by the pallet. What do I need a distributor for if I am buying the entire order? Nice.

Arkema PMACS is the only local stock. Not a great fan of the product...it is all right just not the good stuff from the old days.

So it's arkema pmacs instead of Plexiglas g?

Thanks for the heads up on the Evonik being made in China...I will stay away. I was just quoted by the pallet against Polyone PolyCast.

They are laminating sheets, the process starts at 1.00 min in the video. Look at how the solvent flows. They way i figured out is, they have some kind of seal like polymeric near to edges between the panels. That's how they can keep the air out.

Search for nippura co ltd, you will get more info on them and those thick panels. They are the ones who did dubai mall aquarium not reynolds as assumed by most of the peeps on the other forum. You kinda remember me on the other forum "westcoastindia"

I want some insights, as i'm not from the US, most of the stuff what we get here is pretty darn scrap. All of our market is flooded with rejected scraps "Straight outta China". Though i used to get real plexi G in the past, its now seldom seen in the market. Procuring it has become pain in the rear. However there is this one continous cast by japanese mistsubishi rayon available with one of the supplier on consistent basis. My use these days would be only limited to sumps, no displays. Here is the tech spec on their web http://www.mrc.co.jp/shinkolite/spec/index.html.
Are we allowed to post a link? if not please forgive my ignorance.

Much appreciated Mr. Turbo, as there is more correct info on "How to make coke" vs "How to make acrylic pressure vessels".
