Got one other question if you don’t mind, why do you have fans attached to each light?

When it comes to lights there are a lot of options. I do not know how techy you are, but I'll give some of the data I used when I choose my lights.

First i wanted a powerful controllable programmable led light, that eliminated most of the chinese blackbox (Viparspectre). Second consideration was Price.

Here is some side by side comparison data

The Reefi-Lab uno 2.0 is hands down the best bang for your buck with the price per wattage, not to mention they are the most powerful light currently on the market with the BEST WARRANTY AVAILABLE AT 3 YEARS!!!

Here is my tank

Here are some growth pics from my tank. Stylo and Plating monti 1 yr apart.

I have mine mounted 12 inches above water, at 125watts at peak I am getting 80 to 100 par on my sandbed in 27inches of water. USE A PAR METER TO SET THESE LIGHTS UP.

Good Luck to you.
I’ll take a look at this light too and the data provided. I really appreciate it.

I'm just using the light mounting arms to mount cooling fans that are connected to my inkbird. When the water temp goes to 79, they turn on. It's an AIO, so there's no sump for cooling.

Find some used radion g4 pro’s. Out there not expensive and proven. Good luck.
oh yeah, proven, umm here, hows this for proof?

1 year under reefi labs 2.0. I'm only using 125watts of the 270watts available at peak, mounted 12 inches above water line with a water depth of 27 inches, putting 80 to 100 par on my sand bed. about 275 par on the highest shelf. Due to the power of these lights I highly recommend you use a Par Meter to set them up.

So is the ati sunpowe. Sry Nvr owned that led fixture so I can’t comment. Glad u got to share ur feedback on it tho.

I'm not sure what this is proving other than you can grow corals. It is not a controlled study. There are plenty of people on this forum who run other lights with similar or better results. By better one has to take into account hobbyist skill overall as there is more to coral growth than just a PAR number.

I understand you like the kits and believe they are one of the more better bang for the buck. Nothing wrong with that. However I'd suggest dial down the bias. No need to take things personal.

nothing personal at all. I'm just passing along info I have, to others that might be interested. As for skill, I've been at this for 18 months or so, what skill? Almost everything I know about this hobby I learned from doing and reading these forums. Peer Review in my opinion is the best way to vet any product yet one or two of you seem to question what ever I say, or appear condescending towards what i say. Funny how the people who take offense to what I say are Radion fans. That's cool I guess, I mean I am a Nebraska Husker fan and anyone can tell you they sucked the last 20 years but I am still a fan so I get not wanting to let go.

Good luck to you

I'm running photons over 2 tanks and an happy with them. My gen 4 radion xr15s are sitting on a shelf. Noopsyche k7 pros smoke the radions in par output and I got tired of mobius changing date and time on its own.
Everything in this tank grew under noopsyche k7s

I like them so well I moved them over to my new tank. I think 2 over a 40g breeder would work great and they come with a mounting arm.

@kaijor idk if ur locked into led but the ati sunpower 6 bulb t5 wiuld b like unleashing its namesake , wrap around light, proven and less then the reefi, just another option. Good luck.

This is spot on. I used this fixture on my 40b many years ago and it will grow anything. T5 is more impressive than it gets credit for. Uses a decent amount of electricity but not a whole lot more.

I’ll take a look at these as well. Thank you.
This is on sale-ish...6 tubes
$421
Add about $150 for bulbs .
$571. total approx and like 5.8 "watts per gallon" 234 watts.

Power aside the general plus and minuses.
Need to hang it though some just plop it on a glass top.
A static look not a "3d" look like you get from LEDs/ metal halides.
Just on/ off
Consumables though probably 18 months is fine.
Color adjustments are like $25 each.
Uniform light distribution
Generally a hassle to recycle the bulbs "correctly".

My personal issue is the 36" size.
With t5 markets contracting in the general lighting category the "odd" sizes may become harder to obtain.
I would be more comfortable with 24 or 48" fixtures.
This could be complete garbage in my part but it is a feeling. Even that feeling isn't saying tomorrow you won't be able to get those size bulbs. Or at least easily or timely.
Will be a batch thing. Like when the batch is ran shipped out of China.
It's probably years.

Now as to price..
The 110 real watt Viparspectras are $150 each. So $300. No consumables.
Technically a lot cheaper than your ati.
WITH some catches.
That 110w usual channels 100%
Few would run so much white.
So really not quite practical unless you squeeze 3 in there and dim a bunch.
Gets sort of complicated ..but proof that LEDs can be cheap.

Again...it is not 165W(atts).
Just a "165W" running at 110-ish watts

That ATI fixture gets pretty warm and would get salt creep if you plopped it on top of the tank, so hanging it would be the right way to go.

The tank is still gorgeous with a mix of the good t5 colors such as blue+, actinic, and purple, but you dont get that shimmer that some like. Honestly, it will grow coral really well, and I speak from direct experience. The guy that posted above me with the sale makes buying it totally worth it. Those are well made units.
