Tank looking ok. Switched to all for Reef to try to keep alkalinity up. Sps surviving but a little pale and not really thriving. Hopefully with a change of dosing I can keep alkalinity more stable and see some more robust color. I also dose small amounts daily phytoplankton, daily coral aminos, and weekly microbacter7. I had some very pale filaments algae and I added some copepods and that cleared up. Overall, I think it’s doing all right at 3 months in
Added some more copepods (galaxy pods from algae barn - mix of 5 different types). I also regularly dose phytoplankton. I’m convinced they are a reason why my small tanks stay relatively algae free.
At the 6 month mark today I decided to break it down. The corals were still hanging on and my little cosmic goby was doing great, but it’s too small to really let it go for a week or more at at a time and that meant if I was taking a week off work I was having to come in. My 3.5 gallon Pico tank at work has no problem with going a week and it’s easy to have an ato and automatic feeder for that tank, but I decided I didn’t want to keep coming in on vacations just for the little tank. I moved the coral and the little cosmic goby to my other tank. Maybe some day I’ll set the 40 ounce up at home. It was a fun experiment and a great little set up.
Love this tiny setup, just got one myself and currently cycling rock in my bigger setup! Planning to keep it as a zoa display and wanted to get some opinions because I’m nervous that it might get grimey easily, but don’t love the idea of snails.
Wondering what opinions you’d have on stocking it with pods (as CUC) and dosing phyto to keep pods and coral healthy. Open to all thoughts and ideas!
