Hey everyone! Im Ollie, and I thought I'd start this thread with my progression with my 1 gallon pico reef!
Personal Info-I am an 18 year old (soon to be 19) reef enthusiast. I have had a tank in one form or another since I was about 15 years old. This past year however I was off to college. One thing I missed more than anything was my reef tanks. I simply could not stand not having one next year. So, I did what any sane reefer would do... I dropped about 200$ on a pico tank package.
Background info on tank-
1 gallon Small-In-One PNW Custom tank
Lps/Softy tank
"Fiji Pink" Live sand
Small heater
Dry Rock
Imagitarium sea water
Update 1
Today was day 1 with my new tank. I received the tank through the mail and promptly set it up. I used about 1.5 cups of "Fiji Pink" Carib Sea sand. The rock I used was a premade scape directly from PNW Custom (highly recommend). This is my first time using a premixed water. I will keep you updated on that front. I filled the tank with said water then plugged everything in. The tank is dead silent. Sometimes small pumps like the one provided can be a little bit of a sound problem but it hasn't been so far. I quickly set the temp to 78 F. I have found that this is the sweet point for a reef tank. I then added Dr. Tims One and Only (small amount) to give my bacteria population a bit of a boost.
Time to cycle!
