Got word my fish are going to be shipped on Monday from Dr. Reefs!

I need a word for "nervous excitement". It would be the perfect word for me in this hobby. Anyways it's a fish for each tank. A pearlscale for the other tank and a Cirrhilabrus exquisitus for this one. I'm hoping it will be slightly larger than the lunatus but will have the acclimation box ready.

Tossed some algae wafers in and the pirate goby got one but the shrimp wanted it. Was quite the funny chase. :face-with-tears-of-joy:

I’m going to be honest and maybe the bad lighting but the goby looks half dead :grimacing-face: Sorry lol.

It's perfectly healthy save the lack of an eye which it lost to a Falco hawkfish. Thus why I call it the pirate goby. Its main hole faces the back of the tank and it otherwise rarely leaves the big cave so its hard to get a good photo.

So it DOESNT have an eye! In the first photo he looked pale to me and was missing an eye ball, and in the second photo I see the shrimp behind it with the goby’s tail near it’s pincers and the goby was gaping. Lol.

Yeah to be fair those were some bad photos.
Here's the story: When I added it and its tiger pistol shrimp pair I did not see them for a couple months. The Falco hawk became a known goby attacker in that time so I was worried about it. Eventually I found it and its hole and it was fine. I was already trying to catch the Falco but it refused to get in the trap for months. One day I woke up to find the goby out in the middle of the tank with ripped up fins and a missing eye.
I caught the goby and put it in a hospital tank and then tore down the whole display tank just to catch that @#$% hawkfish. The Hawkfish is now in the eel tank where it cant hurt anything. The goby recovered in the hospital tank and since then I've now also seen the pistol shrimp and they live together now.

But to add insult here is the little @#$% sitting in the trap when I was catching the triggers.

So I bought a colony of blue and yellow goniopora. I very rarely buy more than a frag so let's see how it does! (pictures to follow once it extends)

But that's the boring stuff because I found an awesome fish. It is absolutely stunning and I think I may get one next week. So can anyone guess what it is?

Hint: Its not an Oarfish.

Anyway sorry @Petcrazyson I have to follow my tag and for now I'm going for the weird over the beautiful. It just happens that the weird is also very beautiful in this case.

And the answer is: [Oxymetopon cyanoctenosum - The blue-barred ribbon goby]
Highlight to see. I'll admit this photo does make it prettier than it is but it also doesn't show the very strange shape. The Oarfish is a good comparison IMO.

I’m gonna be honest……that is one ugly fish. Your picture makes them look really pretty, but I googled that that and it’s :anguished-face::face-with-tears-of-joy:

It is weird but also very fluorescent under blue lights. This is a better representation of what I saw today. I'm fully aware that what I find pretty others just find weird and I'm perfectly okay with that. :face-with-tears-of-joy:

I know you like the weird things lol. I think ugly is the wrong word that. It’s a cool fish. It’s not a pretty fish, but like you said I’m sure they glow nicely under blue lights, then again so do my ugly old sneakers :grinning-squinting-face: It is a cool looking fish!
