Don’t be scared to try acros out, I got some to test out in my newish tank and they been fine. Just keep up with house keeping and you should be fine

Although, if I can add a cautionary note here: Acros can be a bit of a mystery. They need very stable parameters, high light, and high flow. On top of that, there seem to be some other 'it' factors that they need to really thrive; sometimes your tank might have those factors right from day one, and sometimes not.

You shouldn't be afraid to try them out, but I'd start off with less expensive ones (green slimer, tricolor valida, etc) before dropping any coin on fancy acros.

I would agree with that. I did try my first one before I had enough flow, and it went down hill quickly. I had another one that my urchin knocked into the sand. So I left it alone for awhile. My tank is just over the 1 year mark and I put one in about a week and a half ago and it is visibly growing already. The second one from months ago would have probably been fine if not for the urchin. I'm faster about getting them placed now.

I didn't know any better when I started my tank. added two. they are both still kicking.
My tank is only 4 months old. I was told to wait until it was at least 1 year old before I try any Acros. What kind did do you have?

Same that’s how I’ve been too, got some 20 dollar and most of them are still going. Only 2 died after my tank had a little crash. I’ve added some nicer ones after and they all been good

I have green slimed pc rainbow and tea the fuzz, and I got some monti digita to. I would recommend all of those sticks for beginners

It doesn't hurt to wait. If you don't mind absorbing the cost, then it can be worth a try. I have also read some theories that there are certain bacterial colonies that need to be established. Just depends on if they come in sooner or later.

I must be a weird reefer. I haven't caught the SPS acro bug... I'm all about LPS and softies (Zoas mostly)
I used to be, then you get a few that you absolutely love and it just goes on and on from there

I’ve been dosing bacteria throughout the whole life of my tank. Might be something that helps

It's possible. I am not sure what evidence, if any, they had to support the theory, but seems relatively plausible.
