You could do that, or take it to an LFS.

I was the first person with xenia Im pretty sure within about 45 minutes of where I live.

After it took over my tank, I sold a frag to a LFS for $30. (Welcome to wisconsin coral industry)

Long story short, he did not put it up for sale right away like I was hoping, he took it home and put it in his tank. Literally before we knew what happened he was selling the stuff for $5 a handful. I kid you not. That is actually what it said on the tank.

I have flushed this stuff before, and I would do it again. It sucks...but...better than putting it in the garbage can. Softies smell ha

I've seen people doing it...flushing it that is. I would rather give it away or sell if you can, but if its taking over your tank, you'll need to trim it down somehow.

Always island this stuff...even so it has a nasty habit of breaking off...and drifting to the back corners of your tank where it will do whatever it sees fit there (Grow into a whole other colony. :()

Please don't flush aquatic life down the toilet. You have no idea what you're putting into the water system. Put it in the flower garden/let it dry up outside.

If I can't sell growth that needs to be pruned, I give it away. If that fails, I treat it like anything I'd prune out of the flower garden, i.e., cut it off and let it dry up and die. If you're concerned about the fact that they're animals, put them in fresh water to kill them relatively instantly. If it's winter, put the cuttings outside and let the cold air do the job.

Don't flush, give them away to someone in your community. Someone is outthere looking for a starter coral and would love to have some Xenia. Give it to he local fish store anything just don't flush it!

I never even thought about that, Im pretty sure water companys are not ready for what some corals give off.

it is illeagal here, we are close to the cahaba river and there are several endangered plants etc, we have a problem with duck weed, and a few other aquatic weeds, that have found there way into the streams , and have been blamed on aquarium keepers dumping there unwanted fish tanks etc in the creek or neighboring pond trying to be kind to a unwanted pet, don't flush it, especilly if you are not sure were it goes, let it dry out and dispose of in the trash or the garden, but I have always been abal to find a lot of takers on the free spot on craigslist, also you can find a lot of locals right here on reef 2 reef, just post it in your local club
