I think In general external pumps can handle higher head pressure. The problem is he’s pumping from the basement to the next floor.

Nice chart! I’m going to need to do this shortly. I don’t have a tons I head pressure maybe 13ft but I have to cut across half of my basement which may be a problem.The first place to start is to look at the head loss curve for the pump you want to buy. Look at the flow for the pump at the total vertical height your going. Then you have to add the loss in for your fittings and PVC diameter. Go a little over the flow you are trying to achieve. That would be very nice in my case. I wonder how it affects the overflow plumbing.From what I remember horizontal runs don’t have much effect on a return pump.

That’s what I was thinking, planning on using large plumbing if that helps I’ll have to research that more.A long run could be bad on that side.
