As a kid I had freshwater tanks I took care of. For saltwater, I started with a BioCube 29g 14 years ago and now have a Red Sea 650 peninsula.—About 150g in the DT plus sump. I like it very much (added Neptune controller and Trident as well as a ReefMat 1500 and 2 mp60s). This is not a budget friendly hobby and does require frequent monitoring so make sure to allow time. My daughter keeps a 480g tank and the maintenance costs are significant. Whichever size you go for, just know that the tank and set up are not the largest expenditure. The smaller tanks require much reduced livestock but there are interesting choices nonetheless. At this time I am strongly considering downsizing for ease of maintenance. I keep a 20g freshwater also.
