I agree. If you go to their website there is a customize your build. Just answer the questions and you will get a quote right then and there. A great jumping off point. I have ordered a tank and sump from GC

I am just getting into the saltwater hobby after years of having freshwater. I currently have a 30 gallon setup. Within the next year I will be upgrading and this 30 gallon tank will be a quarantine tank/ possibly a grow out tank. I am looking to get a 150 gallon tank but I have seen a cool 160 gallon tank. I thought the

Reefer XXL 750 G2+ System (160 Gal)

Looks awesome. But I hear people on videos saying “this is what I don’t like about it” I understand that’s how society is, some people are never happy in life, but I feel if you drop a couple grand on a tank you should have absolutely no complaints. My question is for the people that have been doing this hobby for some time, Is there a tank brand that stands out to the community, or is it all preference? If I’m spending $4-5 grand or more on a tank I want the absolute best investment. Thank you for your time. I appreciate all feedback

Edit. I assumed this would be a topic that would be heavily talked about but I couldn’t find anything, so if this is already a thread I apologize
Doesn't red sea count sump when they say it's 160 so tank is probably like 120+ sump also I'll look into the failures personally they make nice looking tanks but I'd never pay top dollar for one to fail

Red Sea's are nice had one once. When I added a tank I went with Planet which used to Oceanic. Good construction on tank but you will have to do build out... Reef Builders with Jake Adams was good for looking at different tanks and sysytems

I'd like to revive this thread, see what guys are going with.. I've gotten the ok to go bigger.. always used conventional tanks, and then had to modify by driling holes and cutting out overflow boxes. This time I'm looking to go about 7ft long.. None of the out of the box peninsula tabks seem to have everything or the dimensions I want..
I want it to be wide enough to have a nice reef and the ability to see both sides without a flat wall in the center so I'm thinking 30-32in wide( my front door is 36in and 26in deep. Any deeper I can't reach the bottom and any shadows I feel like it'll look like a shallow tank with the wider dimensions. I would like to do an external overflow and possibly a closed loop for flow since it's long and the drain will be eon one side...

What do you guys think? Glass? Acrylic? Closed loop? Bracing? Curious to see th responses.. hope I'm not hijacking the thread too badly. Thank you

I wouldn't go deeper than 25" in-tank tasks will get substantially more difficult. If you are going to go deeper use the calculator on glasscages site because 84x30x31 is the same price as 84x30x25

I was looking at the glasscages site, and went through their calculator. I liked what I saw.. I wonder how much difference going down to 25in as opposed to 26in would be. 31 would look great but I don't want to have to go swimming everything I need to reach into the tank.

What about glass bs acrylic?

I went with Waterbox, and while their customer support is awful, the tank is great. Very sturdy and with a strong stand. Last I checked their pre-made tanks came with free shipping.
My only issue with it is the 1-1/4" overflow vs. a 1-1/2". I'd prefer to run more water through the tank without it going to the emergency overflow.

I just went through this same process. Ended up with IM 170 ext. The shop I use has a custom 180 from GC for sale. It’s brand new , the customer bailed. He’s selling for an extreme discount. It didn’t fit my space. If interested I can definitely put you in touch. The tank is absolutely gorgeous! I believe 50% of retail.

I am hoping my stand and tank are going to meet my expectations. Very confident it will
If it’s anything like the tank I’m sure you will be very happy! I would have jumped on this one if it fit for me. I’m not an expert by any means. But my newbie eye could see the difference from everything I’ve looked at. I spent months before making a decision. Best of luck! Congrats!
