Still my first year on r2r, how does this event work?
Check out last years' thread. Just search Secret Santa and you're golden. That'll give ya an idea. Looks pretty straight forward (albeit a tad tedious). Hey! I'm old! Gimme a break!

Oh....I'm best with earlier. Already started with this year in fact.

I observe the progression of time based on (3) unequal length seasons

Reese's Eggs season
Reese's Tree Season
Reese's Pumpkin Season

I would say the start of Reese's Tree season would be an apt kick-off for Secret Santa sign ups with actual pairing coming a week or three later.

Ohh I did not put them in order. I just listed them.
But yes, Eggs then pumpkins then trees is the order of the the three seasons.

There are marked dates as well. The discount date toward the end of Egg season is the most important event. I have been know to purchase entire displays.... and have rather awkward confrontations with stores about an individual buying out discounted inventory... That is a story for a cup of cocoa around the fire in tree season though.

Some what reminds me of when chic-fil-a debuted "party" packages for catered events years ago.

"Hi - I would like the party pack if chicken nuggets please"
"Sir, how many people are you feeding, there is a 30 piece, a 60 piece and a 90 piece"
"Ohh - it is must me, I will take the 30 piece"
"Sir, if it just you then you should order from the regular menu, we have 5, 8 piece and 12 piece meals"
"Yes, that is OK, just give me the 30, the price is better than two twelves and a five"
"Well how may are in your party, you said it was just you"
"Yes, that is OK, I just want the 30 piece, please"
"Sir, if it just you, you can order 5, 8, or 12, these are for catering for multiple people"
"I eat like 3 people, can you please just ring up the 30 piece party package?"

Round and round we went...

I do leave chic-fil-a nuggets for Santa (and a bottle of Mexican Coke and cup of aerated ice). It keeps me on the nice list.

Mazel tov!

It's an interesting phenomenon these seasonal candies. I stopped playing when COVID 19 came in early 2020 and shortly there after there was strangely no glut of Easter Candies, in fact the shelves were bare and the candy never turned up in bulk when it should have, and worse then that it never even went on sale? How did they know to cancel Easter Candy, and who made the decision?

My wife likes Peeps, while I consume chocolate from the middle shelf and up, year round.

Our CVS pharmacists all remember me because my routine is to purchase two bags of discount chocolate along with my meds/prescription. I always ask the pharma clerk which kind they prefer, and open that bag and eat one or two and abandon the open container as I leave. If they are confused, I tell them it is for the folks in the pharmacy, "Merry Xmas."

They are super helpful whenever I drag myself in. :face-blowing-a-kiss::face-blowing-a-kiss:

I’m always in for earlier the better. I agree that last year seemed very crunched for time.
It was ridiculous! I still have not received or bought anything for Christmas last year!

We should have started then to avoid the Christmas rush

I second this!!!
I love the idea and want to participate for sure. I picked the earlier start to allow time to do shopping and shipping

Here’s last years rules:
