I think my tank has evolved to the point where I need to start paying attention to magnesium, so I have something new to learn.

My alk and Ca consumption has taken off in the last few weeks, and I'm in the process of dialing in kalk dosing. I read an article a while ago that ties magnesium to Ca, so I guess once I get the kalk dialed in I'll know how much Ca I'm putting in and can determine how much magnesium I need...

I'm feeling pretty good about my tank.

I have a bunch of minor things to deal with it but it's in a better position than it was a couple of months ago.

  • Phosphate is a little high and is probably contributing to some of my algae but things are trending in the right direction. I have much less nuisance algae than I did a couple of months ago.

  • I'm trying to switch from manual two-part dosing to automatic dosing and one of my new dosing pumps isn't working but I'm expecting it will get replaced under warranty. In the mean time I can live with dosing Ca manually.

  • I have an AI Prime 16 HD that keeps rebooting itself. I'm hoping cleaning it and doing another hard reset will help, otherwise I might need a new light.

  • I'm new to using a salinity probe and I'm having issues calibrating it, but I'll deal in the next week or two

  • I need a replacement magnet for a powerhead, but that's easy to deal with.

  • I've got a couple corals that need to be either moved, or mounted more securely, again easy to deal with.

Overall the fish, and corals seem to be very healthy. Once I handle the items above I'm looking to get some more fish and perhaps add an AWC system.

Staying disciplined and sticking to the strict stocking plan that was developed during the planning phase.
