Here’s one thing I think everyone wonders at some point and there’s one thing I keep finding that makes me enjoy my reefs after a crash or if I get bored of it.

I always find I love and enjoy a reef that has a purpose. So I love my 5’ tank but I also share it with everyone and I’ve found that it’s purpose is to show people unusual wrasses that may not be expensive but just aren’t common.
I mean, how many people have seen a female Kuiteri Leopard or Kaleidos Pencil?

And my nano has a purpose to grow clams in a way I can appreciate them from top down and also grow LPS that I may not be able to in my 5’ tank. I love the Gonis I have growing and my clams are thriving!

So, here’s my question to you guys,
What have you found makes you come to enjoy and love your tank?

I have different tanks that each have different types of livestock. This let’s me maximize my reefing enjoyment and not be constrained to one tank. They are a mixed reef, sps reef, fowlr, sps frag, and mixed frag. I enjoy something different in each of them. Lately, I’ve been just collecting coral because I like them all. I even talk to them sometimes, lol!

The thing I’m trying to achieve, as well as what makes the whole shtick enjoyable for me, is getting my little nano to the point of being on auto pilot. I know you can’t exactly rush tank maturity and even more so with a mostly dry rock start like mine but the last couple months have shown me some success. So I guess seeing that progress for myself is what I find most enjoyable

Seeing fish that are well-fed, fat, and happy. Even better when you view from a distance and observe them all hanging out, swimming around together in little groups.
