Some things in your tank can just be gross to deal with! Maybe it is cleaning out that dirty filter sock, siphoning out tank water and accidentally tasting it, or maybe it is cleaning up a tank that has crashed. I am wondering what truly gives you the ICH. (it can be in your tank or just the hobby in general)

Having a mouthful of dead coral water…
You’d be surprised how common it is to do that when at an LFS, especially if they’re importing in corals.

I can tolerate a lot but that is a big no in my books.

Manually removing hair algae....Just no.

After sitting and plucking it off of frag plugs, I can completely agree - I now chuck snails and fish in to deal with algae!

Compared to what I do for a living, the reef tank funk doesn’t gross me out. I get mentally disgusted (with myself) when I have mass losses of livestock. Even with knowledge and experience, bad things happen in reefing. But I guess that’s part of the journey. It just really bothers me and throws off my mojo sometimes though.

I also can’t tolerate the smell of defrosted fish food that’s been left out of a fridge over night, that is probably one of the only smells I cannot stand.

Bristleworms

I don’t care if they’re the best CUC in the world (debatable - seems like an oft regurgitated myth to me)

They’re creepy and nasty and can easily get crazy big and huge populations and make it so you can’t dig around in your sand or rock without risking venomous quills in your finger

I did everything to prevent them and still got them. Like reef tank herpes.

Finding a dead, dried out fish that went carpet surfing. Creeeeeeeepppppppyyyyyy and sad at the same time.

Also… when my sailfin comes to try to eat the algae I scrape off the glass and rubs himself against my hand. Slippery and weird.

I have been shocked to find that the skimmer doesn't actually smell that much. I was so scared of it for so long, but it's no where near as bad as standing water can be. It's icky, buy not putrid.

I think the thing that gives me the ick, is when I accidently put equipment in a bucket and close the lid, planning to clean it when convenient. And I open it 2 months later. I threw out a few things over that.
