I like my jabao ow10s and ow25. I have them in 3 different tanks. All at least 2 years old now and going strong. The older Jabao pumps didn’t last as long in my experience. I have an old rw? Series I use to keep my saltwater container mixing, if I shut it off it doesn’t like to restart but it runs constant speed 24/7 as long as I don’t mess with it.

Its realizing that you have to have a controller with them that more than doubled the price.

3 Tunze Turbelle Nano 60200 in a 29 gal that I have mimicking tidal flows with the apex.

Love their design. Horizontal the glass so you can put them behind the rock work and aim them 360°. They use rubber feet between the pump and the glass mount to absorb the pump vibrations.

You have to keep them clean for on/off cycles

I'm using an MP40 in my 50g cube. I'm thinking about adding an MP10. I really like the vortech pumps.

I have a MP40 and a MP10 on the right side of my 120 gal tank on reef crest mode during the day and constant 40 percent at night, on the left side I have a gyre 350, when it’s clean it works great, problem is, if you don’t clean the impellers every month they get dirty and you loose about 20 percent efficiency.

I just kicked out the Tune 6040 from my nano tank. First of all I was never really happy with the narrow stream coming from it.

Secondly after less than 2 years the outer cable just torn open

Been running a Maxspect Gyre 250 in my 120 since day 1. Love the flow, but yes, theyre a pain to keep clean (worth it, IMO). also recently added two RP-Ms on the back glass...HUGE fan of the flow for the money.

For the return flow its a hammerhead /cuda sent thru 3ea 1.5 " sea swirls. I have 4 mp60's to provide more flow. I also use 1 Jebao ow10 pointed at the surface to provide more ripple. / shimmer effect

2 mp40 in my 120 gal. I only run them at 30% power on fast pulse mode .48 seconds because I’m scared they are to powerful if I turn them higher

I have 4 xf250s and 2 mp40s in my 36 cube. I also have a mp40 in the frag area in the sump but I am going to switch out with a gyre. I love my gyres. I have a container with muratic acid in it and I soldered waterproof connectors on the wires, just outside of the tank. I can unplug the gyre from the controller and dunk it in the bucket of acid and then brush/rinse off. All 4 gyres takes me maybe 20 minutes to clean. Almost as easy to clean as the mp40s ... almost.

I have 4 Nero 5’s and I really do like them however I’ve recently come to realize that the flow percentage on the app does not equal actual flow. You have to use the following equation-

So say at 50% setting, that is actually (50 x 0.7) + 30 = 65% of max flow.

So 1% is actually equal to 30.7 % of flow or roughly 900 GPH. I really think you should have the ability to adjust the flow from 100gph to 3000gph.

I am using MP40's, but honestly only because I can easily get anemone guards for them. If I didn't have anemones, I would have Jebao's. I hate that I can't angle the MP40's.

1. What pumps or powerheads are you using to provide water flow in your aquarium and are you happy with them?

2. If you could choose any powerhead or pump on the market what would you choose?
1. I run 4 Maxspect Gyre XF250's

2. Absolutely love them. Far and away the quietest, easiest maintenance pumps I have ever used. The flow it creates in my tank can't be beat. I attribute a good deal of my SPS success to them.

Completely agree! Dont forget parts are available and reasonable. When an mp40 has an issue you have to buy a whole new wet side. Not the case with gyre.
