Just a point about your acros and other delicate sps, a sudden change in tank parameters can take about 2 weeks to kill them, not saying that happened here but about 2 weeks after you got them they let go, it could be delayed shipping shock.

I'm not replacing it at this point. It is what it is.
I'm sorry you are still having problems and I think this is wise. I think you have made some very good decisions on how to improve your system. Every one of those is a change. Changes may be necessary in our tanks, but they all detract from stability.

I think the best thing you can do at this point is nothing but maintenance. Get your rock where you want it. Get your fish load where you want it. Once you are happy with those, wait a month for things to stabilize again. Then look at adding a frag or two.

Ive got the same black sand in a smaller system that has shown no ill effect.

Agree with Brew. Throwing more at it now just doesnt make sense. Wait a couple months and try a cheap frag. If it lives take another step.
Or leave it FOWLR and work toward your ultimate peninsula goal.

Agree with all above.

The tank is fairly new let it stabilize and go from there. Your lps are doing well and zoas are recovering. Loads of changes in the last two month. Flow, rock, mud, large water change all this on a small tank. Take a deep breath and go slow.

Ive tested everything I can test for and the tank still has fresh mixed salt water parameters. Alk even went from 8.6 to 8.7 in 2+ weeks. That's basically no change given the error range of the test.

The one coral that turned around after the water change is my forest fire monti digi, and its continuing to do well. The bug out stylo is RTN and the blue stylo has horrible PE and color, but no STN or RTN. The remaining zoas, LPS and the montis, digi and cap, are doing well.

I'm just going to let this thing stabilize for eternity. I'm through spending money on it. I've got the chaeto controling nutrients very well now, its just getting top off and feeding my fish. The only thing I'm looking for is an isosceles wrasse, then I'll be done. For now.

Speaking of wrasse, everyone was getting along much better last night and this morning. The lubbocki has taken to the top of the tank, the mccoskeri swims around the middle to the top and the pylei has stayed to the bottom half of the tank. Everyone gets enough to eat at feeding time and no one is harrassed to the point of not being able to swim around and eat. I think the lubbocki just needed to establish who owned the tank...

I might be peer pressured into getting a wrasse...
Me too, I think he's the Pied Piper of Wrassdom, Im trying to trap my 6-line so I can add A Wrasser

There is some curse with this tank.
Only way to find out is to get a another and find out. A Red Sea combo and Pass the JUMANJI Tank on.
Keep smiley ....Ugh do you think He's the Jonas?

Nah, it isn't Smiley. This all started before him. Funny you should say Red Sea, because I'm seriously thinking about a Red Sea Reefer 650P.

Well bud, I’ll just add that sometimes things dont go according to plan.... You pick yourself up and dominate whatever’s next!

I was really bummed out to hear you say you wouldn’t be posting anymore.... I know it was mostly frustration speaking but its worth saying that this and one or two other threads have become my favorite place to simply hang out, laugh, spit ball ideas and root for everyone’s shared success! Lots of people would say it was thread hijacking or say buzz off to anyone adding additional thoughts, questions or pictures outside their own build. We’ve all read those threads and to each their own but I’ll say none of them are having as much fun as we are :) Now off to the LFS with me! Happy Easter everyone!

Ehh, you know I'm not going anywhere... updates might just be centered around what my wrasse are doing and not corals.

Did someone say LFS? Watcha gettin, huh huh huh? Is it.... a wrasse?

We actually decided to skip the LFS and focus on getting the 40B ready. Leak test earlier in the week went swimmingly so today i picked up the last couple bits to finish her off. Just need to level it so that hopefully a Mon or Tues night trip to the LFS can be much more fruitful!

This pylei is becoming my favorite. For only being a female, its almost as colorful as my lubbocki. Bright pink body with a yellow tail and horizontal yellow stripes on her head. Black eye spot on the tail also.
