When you say 8 hrs…. Are you still at 5-6 hrs daylight and 2-3 hrs moonlight?
Disclaimer!!! I know nothing and no expert! :D But if you think about it, most corals if not all come from areas with lots of daylight. I run my lights to kick on at 10:30 am with a long ramp of 1.5 hrs so that at noon the lights are almost to the highest setting. They stay there for almost 8 hrs and start ramping downto nearly off at 10:30 pm. Then I use a moonlight because I’m a night owl and like to see the tank.
Also white lights will hide the fluorescent colors. Some corals will look more brown under whites. It’s why the coral vendors all use heavy blues… to make those colors pop!

I run mine basically the same with half an hour of moon in the morning and half hour at night. I run only 10% whites because I enjoy the Windex.

View attachment 2546488this is the zoa garden, you can see the one that looks like he's slowly melting and closed up. And the other picture is to give you an idea of the tank set up and distance from lighting
Imma be honest with you...

I think they need more light. 59w light isn't near enough for color intensity. At least that's my opinion, I'm not an expert.

I just moments ago clicked the buy button on a reefbreeders photon v2+ People seem to love it and rave about the better coverage. I have plans for the ai lights elsewhere but I just don’t feel they are what I need for the sps I keep trying to nurse back to health. I guess I’ll see. I only worry about acclimation for everything already in the tank. Hopefully I don’t stress everything out!

Fluval 59w, just changed then to run 8 hrs instead of only 6hrs. Here's exactly the lights:
I just looked at your build thread. 59 watts on a 110 extra high? The par at the sand is going to be quite low. You might want to add more light (probably get something that has a tighter angled lens for deeper light penetration) and I would move the zoa's up a little higher (not too much all at once though).

I have 165 watts over my 75 gallon (26" deep) and it's dim enough for low/medium light corals on the sandbed but barely bright enough for high light corals at 12".

My 110 EH has 330 watts of LED and a 48" dual bulb T5 fixture for my planted tank and I can barely grow medium light plants on the bottom.

My tank is 36" wide. 21" tall. I'm running a kessil AP700 and two Radion G5 xr15s lol

3 ways to View and Buy new Corals

  • Starting 10:57 am - 11pm Saturday the 12th. We will be posting an URL link to the group of 150+ corals 3 minutes before the hour here on R2R. That gives you all a head start on anyone just viewing the site. You have the best chance at cherry picking corals during this time and if you so choose, you have the remainder of the hour to work on your “honey-do” lists. We understand that for some people, weekends are the only real time you have to get stuff done so sitting in front of a computer all day isn’t practical.

  • At random times during the live sale(about 5-10 minutes after the hourly drop), we will be dropping batches of corals. These batches may be discounted corals, they may be free corals, they may be TSA Coral Cash, or they may be the ultra rare gems that you’re on the lookout for. It's completely random! While you can get lots of awesome deals with the hourly drops, I can honestly say that we will be making it worth your while to stick around on the thread as well. We also assume there will be a little less people active in between drops so it might be the ideal time to get that one piece you need without as much competition

  • Click here to view all left over corals that have not sold

In the extremely rare event that two people check out with the same coral at the same time, the second customer will receive a different frag of the same coral. We have multiples of everything in the farm.

- Beside our Hourly Drop of corals we will posting corals on this thread. Corals will have a link to purchase from our site. The price and name will also be posted above the coral (Please note, sometimes the R2R posted price and the price on the site may be vary slightly accidentally. The price on the site will be the one honored. There will be no exceptions made. Please double check the price before checking out)

Please make sure that on the day prior to your chosen delivery date you have your phone on you as we may try to call in the event of an issue. If we cannot reach you, we may choose to refund the piece instead of replacing it.

Setting this limit allows a better opportunity for others to win awesome corals at heavily discounted rates. Any orders violating this rule will have additional pieces refunded at our discretion ******

During the live sale we may not be able to respond immediately and its really easy to lose a R2R PM **Please make sure to include your full name when communicating** We have 500+ different users at any given live sale, we need to make sure we are properly identifying you. SENDING A PM WHILE CONVENIENT, SOMETIMES RESULTS IN MESSAGES BEING OVERLOOKED BECAUSE OF THE SHEER VOLUME.
