I've got a couple that are irritated most of the time no matter what I do.

What are your parameters looking like? Alk, calc, mag, phosphates, and nitrates.
I've heard they're really easy or really hard I just don't want him to totally hate life if I can help it. Phosphates were .4 and I heard they can be really sensitive to those so did a water change and need to retest now. Alk was 9 so upper end of the range but in it... Calc 410, mag 1410, nitrates 9.4

High phosphates for sure. Mine sit around 0.05 to 0.15. When I started to dose phosphates for the Acros that's when the Gonis started looking irritated.

You know, when my PO4 was that low things looked unhappy. When mines is between .2 and .3 things look the best.

I USA a Hanna checker, even bought the calibrated sample to verify it was working correctly. Tried a different lot # of the regents.

But .2 and .3 makes mine happier.

My Nitrates run about 13-25.

I'm kind of new to this all but I thought Phosphates where supposed to be .03-.05 not .3 correct me if I'm wrong. Mine tested at .04 yesterday on my hanna checker and my nitrates where 5-10 but thats API

To be honest I thought the same thing too. But researching and reading, I found reefkeeping is not an exact science yet. We are learning new things everyday.

Some people still believe in running double zeros on nutrients. Others believe that ultra low nutrient systems ULNS are best. Other people have nitrates and phosphates off the chart yet still have amazing reefs.

In the end it seems like what you're comfortable with and being able to read your aquarium. To be able to tell when your corals are happy or not. Not chasing numbers. And keeping things stable.

If you're up for a bit of reading, this is a great. That kind of breaks the mold.

Phosphates are misunderstood I think. People have been having success with higher phosphates as long as they stay under 1.5 from what I've been seeing. I lost several Acros due to high alk and no phosphates. I'm trying to bring mine up a little because they keep bottoming out. I need to bring my trates down - 63.4.

To add to this I chased the ULNS approach and every time I got close I'd battle dinoflagellates.

Trying to buy a shipping module on your site but I can't seem to find the option for choosing my shipping delivery date.

What arrival days are offered and when/where is that option selected?

Thanks.

Thank you for all that information! My corals have done really well except for a stylo due to a hermit crab thinking it was a good place to sleep. I have read a ton about not chasing numbers and to shoot for stability so that's what I've been trying to do. So far so good the first few months nitrates and phos didn't show up but now it's finally starting to build some up.
