"Please take me home! I'll be cute, and I won't bother anyone!"
I will admit, I caved in and have bought one as three came in!
That got to be a male. Hope he is eating well for you
I wish that was mine although one is looking similar to that photo.

I usually post the bigger wrasses on wrasse Wednesday. Today I'll switch it up and post the wrasses in the seahorse/pipefish/garden eel tank.

Paracheilinus angulatus and Paracheilinus cyaneus

So my girlfriend stopped by the LFS today and texted me that they had a Severnsi. I'm going up there tomorrow for something else. Should I get it? I've never kept a pencil wrasse before, anything I need to know?

Absolutely grab one! They love frozen mysis, and need a sand bed. Easily bullied, they do well without aggressive or bold large fish. My Pseudojuloides splendens lives with a lemonpeel angel, a few butterflies, a bunch of fairy wrasses, a Possum wrasse, a few different Halichoeres, a tilefish, some gobies, a quintet of anthias, some clowns, cardinals, a molly, and a dottyback.

Nice! I just got a splendens on Tuesday. Struggling through some QT roght now. Seems he likes Nutramar press-on shots (~1/4 ball pressed onto rock).

Here he is being active. No idea if he's doing well or not. He's made 4 brown ~5mm long poops though.

Once they settle in and are eating, as long as they aren't bullied or have any physical trauma, they're pretty much bulletproof.

If he's by himself add another fish (especially a fairy wrasse or similar) to help train him onto other foods. Mine even eats small NLS pellets now.

Smaller mouth than I expected. I have small and medium TDO pellets, and he's ignored the small pellets (which I remove). Baby brine shrimp he seems to casually pick off. The press on shot went the fastest, so that'll keep him for the time being.

My stock list was cut down quite a bit when I switched tanks last weekend. Some intentionally and some not. Had a couple female lyretails that went in to hiding and never came back out, I'm afraid they died.

Current stock in my new 210ish gallon:
7" Naso Tang, doesn't bother anyone
6" Magnificent Foxface, scared of it's own shadow
4" Lyretail Anthias (M)
3" Lyretail Anthius (F)
3" Tomini Tang
3" Flame Angel
5" H. Melanurus
4" C. Isosceles
4" C. Rubrimarginatus
3" C. Aurantidorsalis
2" C. Bathyphilus/Efatensis(not sure which yet)
3" L. Dimidiatus

Do it!
Make sure they feed prior to leaving the LFS - Although if she isn’t feeding aggressively I find they very quickly will. Generally, disease aren’t a huge issue with this species.
Mine are with angels, rabbitfish, a huge gang of wrasses, and 2 gobies :)
This is my Kaleidos, I did have a severnsi but I didn’t catch the aggressor in time for him to have sadly passed. I do however still have an Edwardi which is similar to Severnsi :)

Fixed broken link in post above with videonof splendens:

After another chaotic day, transferred the splendens from the 2 gal bucket to the 13.5 gal Evo. The bucket was starting to build up ammonia, and although the Evo wasn't perfect (still reading about 0.1 ppm total NH3+NH4), was clear he needed to move. The heat is becoming problematic, though. Hopefully the fans can keep up.

Someone suggested adding a fairy to help the splendens learn to eat, which now has me thinking what to get next!

Major problem: weekend is here and I don't have a way to feed the splendens. Not sure what he likes eating yet. If I dump a bottle of pods in the tank, would that feed him for the weekend?

Yep! That should be able to help him through 2 days :)

Haven't seen many wrasses here lately...
1720812975092.jpeg

He's starting to eat stuff I put in, just not pellets. ROE, PacPods, ArctiPods and baby brine shrimp seem to be catching his attention, especially when they are nestled in the rocks/Codium. He loves picking around the rocks/codium.

If I can't get him any pods today for the weekend, I have 3 nylon sponge amphipod breeding pads in the back of my 40 and I'll move them over so he has something to eat.

Trust me, if you think he’s nice now just wait until he colours up! He will be a pure stunner :)

I need to get more photos of my wrasses, I’ve had 1 loss this week which was my blue star leopard but generally my wrasses are doing amazingly!

I'm looking to add 2 of the following wrasse into an established 250g:
Yellow
Ruby Head Fairy
Dusky

I have no other wrasse in the tank.

Would any two of these be compatible with each other?

Thanks all!
