That’s a high price for a fairly old species - described in 1988. It’s been in the hobby a while but is much like the aurantidorsalis and sporadically seen.
Is this a newer species?
@Crabby48 any ideas if this is transitional? I think she’s showing signs but this is the first female I’ve seen.My new girl is coming home!
Dude you’re like the wrasse whisperer. All of yours look greatChina Wrass is a beauty. I love my pair.
This the male, base color and nuptial coloration in my tank.
Oh wow they are stunning, about how big compared to the other wrasse are they? Amazing!China Wrass is a beauty. I love my pair.

I haven’t had one in my tank and not interested in trying either of the two. It may not bother tangs, genicanthus angels and damsels like the starcki. I believe it would wreak havoc on wrasses like pintail, lineatus, rhomboid and other meek wrasses.@Tcook is that against everyone or just other wrasse
Pretty color comboNever thought I’d get these 3 in the same frame
I’m terrible looking at pictures but to be honest it looks like a male.@Crabby48 any ideas if this is transitional? I think she’s showing signs but this is the first female I’ve seen.
How big is the tank?I want to add wrasses to my reef tank with high flow. What are some good options, and what should I avoid?
I thought it may be - It’s definitely got the female ’residue’ on it but also signs of the male. It’s small so fingers crossed I get a nice lifespan from itI’m terrible looking at pictures but to be honest it looks like a male.
