Ugh.
I can't seem to get my phosphate to come up!
In May and June my PO4 was higher than I wanted (as high as 0.3). July and August were in-range. But for the last month my PO4 has bottomed out completely. My NO3 hasn't been as bad, but I've dosed some NeoNitro to keep it reasonable.
I had been feeding 4 times per day with my Plank. Then I increased to 5 times to try to bring the PO4 back up. I've cut my refugium light down from 24 hours to 12 hours. Still zero PO4!
The only filtration I have is the fleece roller and the refugium. No skimmer. For food I feed a mixture of pellets and Avast's Reef Jerky (which has a bunch of powdered food in it).
I would think my PO4 would be much higher than it is. What else could be tanking my PO4?
I don't have a huge coral load by a long shot but my pH has been in the 8.15-8.35 range. Could corals be consuming that much? I wouldn't think so in my case. My alkalinity demand has been steadily increasing over the last month and a half or so since I increased some of my lights. But I'm still not cooking things. I think my highest PAR area is only 230 or so. My kalk stirrer is up to almost 2.5L per night to keep my alkalinity in the mid-8s.
I wouldn't worry about it so much if I didn't have a few SPS and a torch that aren't doing so hot.
Thoughts?
