I used this kit to introduce my two older kids to soldering. They helped with the majority of the project. I think it turned out pretty good.

A few of the guys at work tend to think I always modify or hack everything I own. That is not true. I will, however, modify things if it makes it better. I did modify the little tree because the design did not include a topper. I had some parts in my shop, so I added a yellow LED to the top.

That is absolutely adorable and sounds like a wonderful time. Seems like the yellow LED was meant to be there from the start. Great job =)

Thanks, Squishie and David. I think it would take lots of time to build a large scale one. I got burnt once when one of the kids slipped from the position with the soldering iron. I was adding the solder to the joints while they held the iron.
