Hey, Team Styx: the next time I say that I have a brilliant idea for a system upgrade, just tell me, "No"! I haven't been under the hood this much since I built this thing. Honestly, it's making me feel that it's time to build a monster in the basement with the fish room behind it, just so that I don't have to bend anymore. Maybe in about 5 years...

So do we say no to this thought, or no to future thoughs? Is this a future thought?
I feel like this is a test.
No, no- not a test. The only concern is that the only way I go with a monster tank down there is if I do a plywood build. There's no way to get it down there, otherwise. That, or I can have an acrylic built on site, but not too keen on the inevitable scratches.

no filter socks here...so I can not feel your pain, nor will I ever but I am sorry you have to do those things... I use floss and felt pads in my filter cups I get at fabric store. Toss dirty stuff out replace with new...might cost more $ in the long run but my time is worth more..

I’m all confused. I thought you removed the hood because an actuator went bad. :squinting-face-with-tongue:

I vote for the acrylic. Scratches can happen, sure, but only if you’re not careful.

Nah, the filter socks were just routine. Not worried about those. It's the whole running wires and reworking some of the plumbing in cramped quarters that has my back screaming in pain.

Good Morning , Team Styx! I triple checked this time, and now I can officially wish you all a Happy Paddy's! All the best for a safe and enjoyable day with family and friends.

I've been alternating between cooking and finishing up the last items of Operation Overhaul today. I am happy to say that, with the exception of writing code for the Apex, I am friggin' done! For now anyway. The caveat being that I noticed a very slow drip coming from one of my return bulkheads. It's landing in the sump, so at least there's that. Gonna monitor it for now, but will likely be replacing the bulkheads in the next week or so; or, at a minimum, the gaskets. I'll post some pics tomorrow. For now, it's time to blast The Dropkicks and feast!

Slainte!
