@TCK Corals any insight on this? I know you have a large farm and a lot of experience and maybe have encountered this before.Alright, reefing question:
I have a media reactor with GFO in it. I turned it off a couple weeks ago and let it sit. Do y’all think the GFO is still good? I’ll definitely empty out the old water, but I wonder if I can use the media again after that. Just enmity the old water out and turn the pump back on.
I'd definitely swap the media out and possibly clean the lines/reactor chamber. Hydrogen Sulfide buildup if flow was off/reactor was stagnant would by my main worry@TCK Corals any insight on this? I know you have a large farm and a lot of experience and maybe have encountered this before.
I would imagine it would have clumped up if no movement for that long, either way, why risk a cup of GFO for your live stock? If in doubt, throw it out?!@TCK Corals any insight on this? I know you have a large farm and a lot of experience and maybe have encountered this before.

Yeah that's what I'm wondering. I have no issue changing it out for new stuff, but it got me to trying to figure out if it would be safe in theory or not.though it being GFO, that may be a non-thing
How big is the tank and how deep is the sand? I would divide it up and do sections of sand at a time.Yeah that's what I'm wondering. I have no issue changing it out for new stuff, but it got me to trying to figure out if it would be safe in theory or not.
I was recently reading one of Randy Holmes-Farley's articles on Hydrogen Sulfide because I'm about to move around the sand in my display, but I'll have to revisit it to see if I can figure out more info for this situation.
I also do things sometimes just to see what will happen, and this might be a situation where I'm feeling cavalier
Try catching the initial output water in something and let us knowYeah that's what I'm wondering. I have no issue changing it out for new stuff, but it got me to trying to figure out if it would be safe in theory or not.

Think I should send off an ICP test for it? I'm not sure what I'd test for at home other than NO3 and PO4.Try catching the initial output water in something and let us know
150 display with maybe 3" of sand pushed to the front. Long story short, it's been that way a couple years now and I want it back to flat now that I'm rescaping. Based off of what Randy reported with the data, just do it in when the lights are on and run GFO directly in the display, and it should be no issue. How big is the tank and how deep is the sand?
