Any time I see life o didn't put in the tank I'm excited. Even the aiptasia kicking around. The spaghetti worms were cool. Biggest high though was first setting up my first tank. I was putting some dragons breath in and brittle stars came pouring out.TANK TALK: What’s the coolest surprise you’ve discovered in or about your aquarium?
What becky said.I forget who it was... @Projects with Sam I believe. Someone on here had a fish jump from his DT into his QT if I remember correctly. It wasn't a small jump either!
Is there a Neptune contest?
I can’t keep up with all these contestsSaltwaterAquarium.com is doing their Tanksgiving giveaway and one of the prizes this week is a Neptune I believe.
As with most aspects of my life, I jump right in! I devour information and ask questions if I'm stumped. Then, I pass the knowledge on. The old PA mantra, if you will, of "see one, do one, teach one". It helps to reinforce and retain the info.BONUS TANK TALK: Our hobby can be very technically challenging for many. How do you approach the technical side of the hobby? Is it something to be feared or reveled in?
Technical side is my expertise I am in Cyber and I love computers and everything in the guts that make them tick. Doing Forensics for work is my happy time.BONUS TANK TALK: Our hobby can be very technically challenging for many. How do you approach the technical side of the hobby? A custom top would be awesome as I have an AIO 65gal from waterbox. I added a small hang on skimmer, so my screen top doesn't fit any more! I am struggling with phosphates, so an auto feeder would help me control the food contributing factor to the phosphates.
Avast Marine and Top Lids are teaming up to bring you an awesome and fun giveaway with a bit of a different spin!! Welcome to the "Tank Talk with Top Lids & Avast Marine Giveaway!!" Both Avast Marine and Top Lids have established themselves with a reputation for quality and innovation that leads to epic excellence! Now, I said this giveaway has a bit of a different spin to it, and here's what I mean... One of the things we love about having a community like Reef2Reef is that we can come together over our passion for all things marine and celebrate the wonderful parts of the reef hobby, we enjoy showing off tanks, talking through complications, finding solutions, and celebrating progress toward those thriving beautiful reef aquariums, and we do all of that together in community! Well, in this event, you guys are going to get to talk through all of these different aspects of the hobby with the guys behind these 2 awesome brands.
Each day, you will be given a discussion prompt (or sometimes maybe more than one), and your response to that prompt is your entry to the giveaway! It really is that simple! Engaging in conversation about reefing topics with @Avast Justin and @Top_Lids is how you participate and WIN in this contest!!
The grand prize for this giveaway is a Plank Autofeeder and a large bag of Reef Jerky (feeds an average size tank for 5-6 months) from Avast Marine and a custom Luxury Lid from Top Lids w/ Food Regulator!
Also, in addition to that grand prize, the great folks at Avast Marine and Top Lids have said that they will be monitoring the giveaway with the plan to award bonus prizes to people they see who are completely engaged with the contest and the ongoing conversations in here! What are you feeding? I ask, because in addition to frozen (Rods and the Hikari line) I was also feeding pellets in the AM and periodically throughout the day for my anthias. My PO4 was super elevated. I switched over to Benepets Reef for the pellets and it has come down drastically. You may want to give it a try.A custom top would be awesome as I have an AIO 65gal from waterbox. I added a small hang on skimmer, so my screen top doesn't fit any more! Thanks! I feed pellets, frozen, rehydrated dehydrated food, and just started Nori as I have a Sailfin Tang. I also feed crab quisine. Not all at one of course! What are you feeding? Yeah, variety is key. I forgot to mention the nori for my Tangs, but you get the idea. I found that the pellets were the culprit in my case. Like I said, worth a shot. Thanks! Really appreciate this, thanks!Yeah, variety is key. I forgot to mention a nori for my Tangs, but you get the idea. I found that the pellets were the culprit in my case. Like I said, worth a shot.
You can view this as just technology, and the technical aspects of that (i.e. writing Apex scripts). Or, you can view it as I did, which is more broad and inclusive of that, plus the overarching knowledge base needed to be successful in this hobby. Areas such as technology (already mentioned), chemistry, biology, water purification, carpentry, electrical, etc. I suppose it's up to you and your interpretation. I don't think there are any wrong answers here, bud.Clarification please
My pleasure.Really appreciate this, thanks!
