So the stand that was built for my new setup, is smaller than the tank. The back i will need the tank flush with the stand so i can mount my lights.

Question is, is this ok?
It is a 125 gallon tank

Or should i just cut out a piece if plywood and add it to the top?

Do not fill this tank as is.

This is a framed 125? All the load is supposed to go through the corners. If the corners are unsupported, as shown in the photos, I’d expect the result to be that all the water will go on your floor.

At a bare minimum you need a robust top to extend to fully support the frame at the corners, but ideally you’d have a stand that reaches the full extent.

Edit: Is the tank stand even square? From the photos it looks like the overhang doesnt happen on the far side?

It is framed.

So would just attaching a 1/2 plywood to the top that is the size of the tank acceptable?

If this was in my house I’d want something more robust - eg a Home Depot Huskey Butcher Block workbench top about 1 1/2” thick cut to the right size, maybe even extend past the tank a little, and then make sure the corners are all shimmed.

Yeah I would definitely replace that stand. If it was a smaller tank maybe, but there is a lot of water weight in a 125.

lol no.

Stand needs to be redone. You can use 3/“4 ply for some off measurement but not 1-2” like that.
