@TheRealDmorty217
Could we get a FTS of that 625g? Pretty please?
Here is the last picture I took before taking the last few fish out. Unfortunately I had my home built around the tank and when we moved 3 years ago the tank stayed in the basement of the home. Guess I should change my bio. Loved the tank, 7ftx6ftx2ft.

I am thinking of adding some TBR to my sump since I removed the bio block.
Which would be the best to use? Rubble? And is this a good idea? And how much would you put in the sump of a reefer 350?
I would just get rubble. I started a tank once with TBR. it did great for many years. I did have to catch a mantis. I ended up taking him back to a sea wall in Tampa Bay on vacation.

lol. Lesson in what exactly? I’ve been keeping saltwater tanks for 25 years, not sure what you think you’re going to teach me? Seems like you have your preferred liverock supplier, which isn’t TBS. This thread is about TBS.
If you look at my first post I recommended the 8 pound box even though my experience with the company was a nightmare. Taking excess sponge and other easily perishable items off live rock has been a common practice for well over 25 years and is nothing new. As a matter of fact it should be common sense. Yes I have a preferred provider of live rock but at no times tried to bash TBS for my experience. As a matter of fact I find it a little funny how they disappear from a thread as soon as it doesn't fit their narrative. This isn't the first thread they were involved with where I displayed frustration with my orders and poof gone. Guess the lesson if any would be, you never know who's on the other end? It might just be someone who actually knows what they're talking about. Good luck to you and happy fish tanking.

I never said or suggested you didn’t know what you’re talking about. Sponge on liverock 100% dies when exposed to air for transport. Richard was great to me, I haven’t purchased live rock in 8 years and things change quickly in this hobby, so my experience maybe much different now. No hard feelings

That is the one thing that separated TBS from other sources is that he shipped fully submerged and only to air freight terminals. There was a method to the madness so to speak and the new owners of TBS followed suite as Richard mentored them for a good spell. They are able to ship smaller portions overnight using standard carriers. KP aquatic will also sell fully submerged now.

Edit: having ordered from both they are both exceptional small family business that we as hobbyist should try and support.

They have harvest windows. Think farm to dinner plate if you will. Market fresh. You don't want live rock sitting in bins. I wouldn't want that space taken up and it is fresher with more life collected, sorted, packaged, and shipped.

In my opinion.

I did compare KP as well and they are out of stock. Also, I guess I was thinking they harvested regularly. Thanks for clarifying

His website always says out of stock. You have to email him with what your looking for and then he'll add it to the site for purchase. I think he got tired of pipe dreamers filling up there carts.

I found when I called him it also helped with planning and weather. Weather was a pretty big deal - for any of the reputable collectors.

I will say after he confirmed date he packed up the box got it to shipping and arrived on door step in under 24 hours. Florida to California.

I'd have to dig through the emails, but from my recollection of this transaction your first order was delayed due to UPS, and we sent more product free of charge. If you dm me your name I am happy to look into it.

Second, we specifically do not remove sponges or tunicates. If you don't want sponges or tunicates then order Base Rock. Many customers request sponges and report success keeping them.

Because I choose not to engage with you regarding your opinion does not mean we disappear. Btw, regarding your comment, "you never know who's on the other end? It might be someone who actually knows what they are talking about." Are you a live rock farmer?

This really shouldn't turn into a vendor feedback although I feel in small talk everyone should be entitled to there opinion. To save the thread I'll go ahead and run a vendor feedback and we can handle this part there. It's just a shame I won't be able to share the stench.

As for my background I've only had my Florida aquaculture license for 27 years and was part owner of one of the largest aquariums in the state. No I'm not and never have been a rock farmer as making pennies on the dollar has never been my m.o. I'm not trying to tell you how to run your business as I really don't care. One thing I will do is share my opinion and experience regardless of fact with any seeking.

Catch ya in the vendor forum. :winking-face:

Can’t wait…. Thank you!!! And I will never set up another tank without it…. Tried Marco rock..NO THANKS!!!!
Everyone has good and bad experiences. If you search me and live rock, you will find a lengthy experience with a competitor to the current conversation. It’s part of the deal. And doing something for multiple decades doesn’t mean you have a clue either, ask the Clintons, the Bush family and others :) But, good conversation is what these forums are for.
