Today, we have an epic showdown! SPS corals are both equally challenging and awe-inspiring! These gorgeous corals are the crowning jewels of most aquarists' coral collections. But as a community, which do we prefer? Let the battle begin!

Acropora vs Montipora! Which do you prefer? Show off your SPS in the comments!

Well I have several types of sps so I put down other. I have montis-Digi and plating/encrusting, a few Acros, a stylophora colony and the “other” stylo.

I'm the minority here. I just don't think Acros (with a few exceptions) are that jaw dropping. I guess Monti's arent either but at least that are far less sensitive to changes.

I love my monti caps but the acros are the real show stoppers. Encrusting montis like the sunset monti i have are nightmares when it comes to attacking other corals and taking up space. I wish i never put them in the tank.

It’s too difficult to choose!! Speaking of acros, can anyone identify this one? It was a mystery at the LFS. When it’s open for business at night the polyps are a fluorescent purple. Very fast grower as well I’ve only had it f a week and it’s already beginning to encrust the epoxy surrounding the plug.

I don't have either so I didn't vote. The shape of a montipora is just too iconic when I think of a coral reef I think, sea fans, staghorn acropora(which are sadly illegal to own), and montipora. Montis would have my vote, but I won't vote for them until I've had both.

Always love seeing your tank!
The Riccordea mushrooms on the bottom right always make me chuckle too, they're just trying to fit in lol
Thanks! This is an all sps tank. I believe you are referring to the frankenstein leptoseris.
