What is the HUGE coral colony on the right side of your tank?

Not sure who you are replying to but if asking me, the green Acropora on the front right is a Acropora muricata. I believe. I purchased it from Biota a couple years ago. I think they call it Palau Mutated Meatball. There is another green Acropora behind it between the BC Efflo 2.0 and the Montiporas but I don't know its name. I purchased it a while back at a local fish store. Green with a pink tip. One of the BTA's near it moved across it and did a bit of damage. Probably time I should remove those.

This is my previous anemone reef, 80 gallon display with 40 gallon refugium and 25 gallon sump. At one time, Nitrates were as high as 67 and phosphates a .35. Average nitrates in the 40's, phosphate .25. Attributed to weekly feeding of the anemones. The tank looked great! All anemones and other corals looked great!
I transferred everything to a 360 gallon tank a couple of months ago. Nitrates at 20, phosphates at .10 and the anemones don't look as good as they did with higher levels.

Salinity-1.026, nitrates-mid to high 20s, phosphate-.05-.1, alk-10, ph around 8 right now because a/C is running. In winter when windows are open it goes up to around 8.3-8.5
The Duncan is one of my first corals and still my favorite! It started with 2 small heads!

90 gal system, 6+ years old. Mixed SPS and LPS reef. I dose nitrates and barely get a reading on my Hanna checker. Hanna says my phosphates are between 0.5 and 1.0. Calcium is in the 400's, PH 8.0 and Alk. 8.2. these figures have been stable for the last 18 months. I have no algae issues and my corals are growing fast enough that I sell about about $800 dollars worth a year to my LFS.

I hear and see on many threads that you can't have high nutrients to run a colorful and successful reef. I see every day on threads about "help my coral" or "Is this coral dead" there is information that keeps getting regurgitated about having to high of phosphates or nitrates. This thread is not intended to be a debate in what appropriate levels of nutrients should be. As we all know, there are a million different ways to run a reef tank and no 2 setups are exactly the same. So I am just curious to see everyone's POLLUTED tanks. Please list your typical parameters and post a video or picture.

LOL!!! Looks like I forgot to tag! Sorry! The question was meant for @F i s h y. But I'll take a look at what you named also @areefer01! Thank you both. I'm trying to get an idea of what I'm gonna put in my tank next year.

N03 40-50 (heavy feeding lately for new fish) usually runs 10-15.
150Gallon Tank was an upgrade move over less than 4 weeks ago from a 4 month old 90G.

Orange filter makes my rock look neon green , it isnt barely any color in person.

Are there some secrets in here for the super clear glass, especially with some of the higher than most people would recommend numbers? Or are y'all just scrubbing all the time?
I had to scrape the front glass every 3 to 4 days.

This is back when my Nitrates were 30s and phosphates 0.3-0.7. I attacked them aggressively and ended up losing probably about 70% of the corals. But eh at least my nitrates and phosphates were at the “right” levels…

I clean the glass once or twice a week maybe. I don't really pay attention so not sure. I know I do not clean it daily that is for sure. So there is that.

My daily routine is to stop by the display in the morning after lights out. I do a quick visual to see if my urchins knocked anything over or the larger fish. This is my first opportunity to see if anything urgent needs attention. If not I go about my day. Some point in the day I do pull up a bucket, literally, sit, and observe. This is when I notice the glass clarity and decide if it needs to be clean.

I never let it get too out of control, or bad, such that the snails leave trails. Unless I am away for a couple of days. Thus me saying once or twice a week. It doesn't really bother me and it is a good source of food for the snails. In my opinion.

I've come to the conclusion (after being told) dirty glass is a sign of a healthy tank. Takes 5 minutes and if you wait a week it looks like a new tank when your done :rolling-on-the-floor-laughing:

A good scraper. I used to have a flipper and that is useless with tough algae’s. Switched to the AquaForest brand and that’s worked much better!
