This thread resonates as I have the opposite problem - low nutrients, but I can't seem to get rid of the green algae on the sand. It's not the end of the world but it kind of detracts - I really like a clean sandy bottom and am jealous of all the pics on this and other threads Lately I've also had some cyano growing again on various places in the rocks which is annoying. I blow it off every few weeks. Coral is growing very well and fish are happy. Tank is about 3 years old now.
My PO4 is .07 - .1 over the past few months and NO3 4-9 ppm over the same timeframe. I haven't found any CuC that seems to do much for the sand. I have had a few conch, I think only one is alive now, but they didn't do much. Snails don't touch the sand (at least any that I've had). My hermit crabs I think have largely died off but I have a few, I never see them eating at the sand. Any suggestions would be most welcome!
