I'm not sure if the tank is using it all, maybe snails? Or if I'm using more than needed. I know my dosing lines are set by the skimmer intake. When it doses, the skimmer intake, takes some in, or maybe all. Not sure, just know I can see some get sucked in lol. I figured it's just mixing it for me, then going back out the output of the skimmer? Or am I just wasting some due to the skimmer?

Got a lot of coralline? My little 13.5 only has 2 mushrooms and I have to dose it. Coralline everywhere, and a few bivalves.

I have some growing all over the rocks, back wall, overflow. So maybe that too.

My snails shells have the best growth in our tank lol. I can see new white shell growth on all of 'em. Astrea, Trochus, Turbos, Ceriths, and nassarius. Mainly see growth on the Astrea and Trochus.

Like...hey..do I need bicarbonate or soda ash....answer is soda ash. And hey...how much should I start with dosing...answer..apparently about twice as much

I have nothing against afr..just never went that route. Only thing I didn't like was alk not keeping up with calcium and my tank drinks alk. Plenty of tanks speak for themselves using afr though

Not doubt, your tank is heavily stocked! Beautiful!

I wanted to keep it simple and it does that for me. I have 2 part which I never used, also used Kalk for awhile, but also had to worry about trace elements.

I bought the powdered AFR, a container of it should last me a long time.

Yeah. I ordered 7 lbs of bicarbonate first on that adventure..then ordered ash. When it's on sale it's like 30 bucks or something...40 on the regs. And 7 lbs will last me roughly 8-9 months.

I don't know about Billy, but Arm and Hammer baking soda and bake it. Turns it to Soda Ash. If I remember correctly 1 small box of baking soda is perfect to make 1 gallon of Alk solution.

See I lied I do use those to balance things out if needed. But it's very rarely needed.

That's the cheapest way I think..don't know if brs is better grade or not or if it even matters. I'm just now dabbling in it so went with the easiest thing first

Like you pointed out, your only saving a few dollars really, they done a price comparison too on the YouTube video, I don't remember the cost breakdown, but spending an extra $50-$100 a year isn't much in this hobby.
