Hey all, youtube will not let me upload a video or create a channel. are there any other good options for posting a video here?
Are you a paid customer? I have no issues, but I’m also a ”premium” user.

No, but i can't see anywhere that says that is a requirement to create a channel. However i can't so maybe that is the problem. I don't use youtube much and am not familiar with its quirks. Thought it might be fun to post some video here and there, but its becoming a real pain and i'm considering just giving up on the idea.

I did get a pretty good picture of my space monkey last night under the blues, i was inspired by someone yesterday posting a really nice picture of theirs, and i hadn't looked at mine closely for a bit.

Love seeing that space monkey was a very limited release on that one. We just sold the mother colonie also .. so it's in the hobbiest hands now

Translation, grow it enormous and sell a frag back to Shane when he inevitably has sellers remorse.

Billy, why do all your corals look like Tokyo billboards?

Night Life Japan GIF by PHAZED
I dunno..its with no adjustments but here's what it looks like with -100 -1 +100 contrast. If it's too bright I often turn down the contrast. I also run blues only so that helps.

Obviously no saturation added or anything either. When a pic is of a coral a ways back in the tank I have to adjust the sharpness/clarity so it's not so blurry.

Show and tell time again. Most of you have followed my issues of losing Acro’s and trying to make adjustments in how I manage my tank. Here are a couple of more before and after shots. It’s getting to where I’m looking at an entirely different tank everyday now with all the changes and new growth going on. I cannot thank Shane @SBB Corals and @billyocean for their help and recommendations to get me moving in a better direction.

This first one I was sure it was going to die. Almost completely bleached out but still had a tiny bit of fluorescence under a UV light. It turned into a juggernaut over the last two months.

This one you’ve seen before. First picture was 1 July after I started making changes

This is today after just 23 days of growth. my goodness!

Several things that were fairly simple. The biggest was cleaning up the water quality in the tank. The incoming water to my house is only at 125 on the TDS and I have a 7 stage RO/DI unit, but from Shane’s advice, I did a thorough cleaning of my fresh water RO/DI system. Flushed and cleaned both my RO/DI and saltwater storage tanks. All new filters, risens and membranes. Before running the system for RO/DI storage, I ran about 50 gallons through the system to flush out any preservatives in the risens and Membranes. Once I started collection water, I would check it with a separate TDS meter to insure zero TDS. Once I had all that done, over about 10 days, I did a 50% water change. Since I did all of that, the amount of algae is see in the tank pretty much dropped to zero. I only have to clean the glass now about every 4 days. All the algae has disappeared. Only down side from that is my phosphates jumped about 100% from a normal 0.08-0.11 up to 0.17to 0.2. No algae eating it. I’m slowly bringing it back down by feeding a little less flake and pellet sources. Per Shane’s advice, I plan on replacing my RO/DI filters, risens and membranes on a more frequent schedule to insure perfect water quality.

Next is all elbow grease. I started blowing everything in the tank daily with a Turkey baster or small pump to keep all the junk suspended and out through the filter system. For a while I had to change the filter sock every other day. Now, it’s just every 4 days and the skimmer only gets about 1/2” of gunk a week.

With the algae under control, I’ve started slowly raising the lights to get all the Acro between 280 ish and 400 PAR. Having to watch that closely, because some of the areas on the bottom of the tank are at 300 PAR and the non Acro critters are stressing a little. Zoas are adjusting, but I had to move the Goni’s to lower light areas.

something @billyocean keyed me on and Shane @SBB Corals confirmed is I was probably burning new corals with my dipping protocol. That may have been the cause of their extremely slow deaths. I switched from Coral RX to potassium chloride. The new corals I’ve put in since have showed no stress and all have excellent polyp extension and color.

Last thing I’ve done @billyocean got me looking at was trace elements. I started using KZ 1234 starting about 3 weeks age. Don’t know if that is doing anything, but a lot of my corals are starting to show more color than before. Could be the KZ or a combination of all of the above. Since I started this and gotten through it, I’ve had to increase my dosing of Alk and Ca both by 100%. Alk from 15 to 30 ml/day and Ca from 8 to 15 ml/day. I suspect when I get my big SBB order this week I’ll have to bump then up again next week. Another thing I’m watching are my tangs and algae eating angels. There is nothing for them to graze on now, so I may start increasing my Nori for them.

I just googled to see what I could find out. Said you can create videos (with ads) without the premium . If you’re in the YouTube app(mobile) there should be a + button near the bottom. That’ll get you to the create a video area. I have premium but according to what I read it should still work
