How’s everyone’s pieces looking? Or are most still being shipped?
Mine arrived yesterday. They all looked happy. A couple of the mushrooms I got definitely look better in person, and that’s saying something since they already looked good in the pictures Shane took.

I think my favorite part of coral is watching it color up like SPS but I got a sick SHane mushroom that’s super bright. Way nicer than his pictures. Agreed his pics are already top notch.

The theory is, there are some things that are not picked up by your TDS and by switching out your membrane more frequently you keep better quality water. No proof to this but shane said when he switches his membranes every 2-3 months his corals are a lot more happy.
Interesting theory. I know chloramines are a hot mess and universal carbon is basically a must but i haven't heard of switching out membranes that often; guessing that it is different in each water district. Anyone else have the same success attributed to changing out membranes frequently?

Lol! Nice visual. Made me laugh. Trying to imagine how the corals feel about it.

i spent 3 hours 'preparing' the tank yesterday and i still don't think i know where i'm going to put everything...

have a frag tank in basement that's almost ready to go and then i'll be evicting a bunch of LPS and softies... just waiting on light to arrive i think

Cool. I have to live vicariously through everyone else’s posts this round. I sat this one out, so no new corals to add. As you said, I’m looking at all of them and trying to decide if any are candidates for removal to make room for others. It seems no matter how well you keep the tank humming along, some corals just can’t seem to thrive. I hate giving up on any of them, but the reality of life means some just won’t make it. I think they all know I’m staring at them worrying and wondering if they will make the cut. Makes me feel like a monster.

Yes this is true. I always get Chlorine and Chloramines mixed up. Chlorine is in sodium chloride, Calcium Chloride, and Sodium Chloride. So it slowly raises in our tanks. Thats why it’s important to do water changes

Having said what I did in the above post, I have to say something about not giving up. I got this little guy November last year as a 3/4” frag. It turned white in two weeks and I knew it was a goner. However, it still fluoresced under a black light. Moved it from place to place for almost six months and then boom, it found a place it liked. Started growing like a weed. One of my fastest growers now. Makes you never want to give up on them.
