Going to be a different color going forward since I'm adding different strains to the mix that are brown phyto. Tetra and Nanno are green strains, Iso and phaeoda are brown.i have a pretty heavy hand when i dose phyto, the corals and fish love it. and you are totally right @Baby_Shark , it's a really pretty color too

Biodiversity. Is there a benefit to different strains?
Standard Zebrasoma tang. Mine went in with a Purple to a tank that had a Sailfin. Was some pecking order at first but they swim together now. Purple has grown fastest so is a bit of a bully.Think I’ll be picking up a gem tang next week, anyone got one/any advice?
This, plus things do different things. I'll do a write up from my research later, but different ones do different things, different micron sizes different motility, etc.Biodiversity.
Same as pods. Different phyto eats different algae or at least inhibits the growth of different algaes. Different corals/gorgs eat different phytos, etc. This, plus things do different things. @Kasrift lools great. Can I place an order?
This phyto is way darker then algae barn@Kasrift lools great. Can I place an order?

Sure. Pm me.@Kasrift lools great. Can I place an order?
I'd try lower par. I had one in low par for a quite a bit when I added it to my tank before I moved it to some light. Other than that, they have small mouths so dusting them with reef roids or similar (or live phyto) with flow off helps them immensely. All you goni experts - I have a few frags that have closed up. Can still see polyps but they are all turtled up. Some of these are right next to others that are wide open and flowing. These are on the sand in about 175 par.
Any suggestions to bring the bashful ones out of their shell?
PH stays 8.1-8.3
Alk 8.7 (Hannah)
Mg 1440 (Salifert)
Ca 455 (Salifert)
Nitrate 7.4 (Hannah)
Phos .07 (Hannah)
Thank you
Hah. I have my largest Goni at 250-270 par. Honestly it’s trial and error. I have one that is closed up right now at 200 plus par. But since it’s been like this before at much lower par I’m just assuming it’s doing its best Goni pout. I broadcast feed with a mix of Coral Dust, Reef Chili and one other a couple times a week. So yeah, like @Kasrift said get it in lower par and maybe move it back up if it responds favorablyI'd try lower par.
