@penguinexdeus so i tested again tonight. Phosphates are .05 (+/- .04; so still above 0.0). Nitrates are

What I think is happening is the stuff inside the tank actually has an acceptable level of nitrates to use some of the phosphates. As for what stuff is using it, who knows. Maybe the algae. With that said I went to town on the algae today.

Looking good! When i first started to bring up phosphate the tank sucked up a lot also - between the good bacteria, algae, corals, etc... there's usually a lot starving for it.

Still working on my phosphates... did a large water change and some other things yesterday once i felt a little better that ended up ticking off a lot of established acros... lost 3 or 4 already and i have another 4 or 5 i'm anxiously watching that have lost some tissue on tips or really paled down... been an upsetting day looking at the tank and seeing my largest colonies suffering... and the possiblity of losing my vivid insanity - which hasn't lost tissue luckily but is super bleached out...
