So before, it took me like 30ml ESV 2 part to keep my alk at around 7.7 - 7.8. Now, with the last sale and adding some colonies and frags, I'm now at 41ml. I'm taking it slow and my swing is still within .1 (@billyocean has taught me well). This is normal right?

My consumption increased as well, had to increase kalk and AFR this past week.

I manual dose for the longest time before I bit the bullet and set up a doser several years ago. Makes it so much easier

Alk is how you tell if your sps is happy if nothing else. The more they use up, the more they need daily. If you see alk decreasing then something is most likely wrong

I also use peak pH to determine if theyre unhappy and then use that as my trigger to measure alk. If pH remains within range then i can assume alk isnt swinging. Im dosing about 2dkh/day. Missing one day can be a swing.

That's a good problem to have, means things are growing well.

I mean dosing KZ1234, feeding phyto/reef roids/oyster feast, and WC 1x/2 weeks.

Ehh....that will work sometimes but ph has way too many factors involved beyond alk to consider that consistently correct. I.e. fresh o2 vs co2..is the skimmer producing less bubbles because it's dirty, are there more people in the house, is a window open, what's the season..blah blah

The more people in the house covered it...at my house they have to stay on the porch anyways so it's not a factor

My favorite thing to do when people want to ask dumb questions about my tank is start talking about the water chemistry. That way...I can just get back to doing whatever it was that I was doing.

Morning everyone! Great long weekend in San Diego getting to know little Aurora. She’s in her 7th week and already has a great personality. I’m having to remember how to balance a baby’s head again and feed without making a mess. My daughter was good to me and didn’t make me do any diaper changes. Haha! Hate to leave, but headed back to Florida today.

Yeah, I loved that. She is already in that baby struggle of trying to turn herself over. Brings back memories of my daughter at that age. Best part right now is watching my daughter and her husband being new parents. Looks like they will be great ones.
